New Old Stock aluminum slant six short block. This is a brand new engine. This has been in my shop for at least 30 years or more and its time to go. I live in central N.J. and prefer you inspect it before purchase. I do not want to crate and ship it. I'm asking $1500.00 firm and I do mean that. I'm not very good with a computer and I'm defiantly not on one every day. I have pictures on my phone but will have to figure out how to post them on here. I will work on that soon. Thanks

I am sure lots are interested, but some pictures will really help. If stored incorrectly it could be a mess. If you don't know how to post pictures, you can send me a message and I will help. We as an organization would like to help you sell it!

WOW!!! I thought you guys would have been all over this. No comments or questions? Am I asking to much? OK $1400 or best offer.

For me, it's a lot to spend on a slant six short block. I am not saying it isn't worth it. My problem would be building a hot motor and then worrying about head gasket sealing. In fact, getting head gaskets for the aluminum blocks for any buildup version apparently is an issue.
Good luck with the sale, though.
jus sayin

I'd like to have it, but I can't afford to make an offer that would not be insulting.

Here are my comments. Please take these as constructive criticism. I already own a couple of these and have not run them in a car yet, so I am not in market.

These are a very niche item and subject to horse trading prices. If someone really wants one, your price is fine, but if no one wants one right now, then it's high.

When you posted the ad, I thought you had an assembled and workable shortblock. It looks like you have a block with some parts that could go into it. What is the status of the crank, rods, pistons, and what would one need to do to put them together and make it run? This is a big question for anyone wanting to buy. The block does look quite nice, from a corrosion standpoint.

Hope this helps a little...

Lou

When I picked this up it was a complete short block. I took it apart about 20-25 years ago. I have the crank, rods and pistons timing chain and gears. I also had the cam but accidentally threw it out in the scrap pile about 10 years ago. When i took it apart i should have greased up the cyl walls but I didn't. Believe me its just slight surface rust in the cylinders. Block has always been inside a heated garage. I will now probably clean up the cylinders and grease them up and put it back on the shelf. If someone would like to make an offer PM me and don't worry you cant insult me LOL. It's here for inspection or if someone wants a certain picture I can get it for you with some help from Hyper- Pak. On a side note I used to bring this to the Englishtown swap meet 15-20 years ago and set it out there but not for sale. Lots of people knew what it was and really took an interest to it and we had a lot of good conversation over it. Took it last year and no really knew what it was or they never knew they made an aluminum block. Times are changing and I'm getting old. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the additional info. It's good that folks on this site know you have the engine and a buyer may pop up. Yeah, most people under the age of about 60 (even car folks) don't even know what a Slant 6 is (iron or otherwise). Times are a changin', yep...

I used to drive across the country and figure I could find parts within a day if needed. Not any more. Last summer in my 64 Dart I had to wait 3 days in a tiny town in WY to get parts sent to me so I could continue on my way after I hit a small antelope - needed a damper, water pump, pulley, etc.

All the best,

Lou

That block looks amazing! Even better it has the all-important lower main caps. Those blocks are getting harder and harder to come by in buildable shape. That said, your price doesn't seem unreasonable to a collector/restorer. Might try Hemmings or something similar.
