when I added the wiring for the additional gauges, relays,cruse control,,, on the D150 in passing through the firewall I ran the wire through grometed holes
I want to go back through the wiring this winter and add robustness and servicability to the wiring changes.

I want to change the firewall pass through from the unbroken wire to a bulkhead connector.
this one looks promising...

everything is bought a la cart,,,
a male and a female connector, latches, terminals and seals, come to roughly 70.00
this looks to be OEM quality stuff, but does anyone have alternatives?

the quallity does look good,appears that EFI has figured out how to buy from an OEM supplier and is re packageing for sale in small quantities.
They are just a bit pricy.

found a less expensive bulkhead connector option at Americal Autowire, as well as lot of other nice wiring ideas..

I bought one of the weather pac 22 cavity fire wall coupling,,for the price,,
well made, nice weather proof perimeter seal,, only down side is that it is sized to accept the 240 series pins,, and those are rated for 20 amp service,, good for many automotive circuits,, but not all,,

the Delphi connector shown in the first post accepts 280 series connectors (30 amp rating) and has 6 openings for 480 series (42 amp rating) connectors.

I can make the weather pac 22 work for this project, next time I am getting the Dephi connector

Dadtruck....perhaps you should keep the higher amperage loads out of the passenger compartment, and run relays through the smaller amperage pins. Fuse the load wires, run them through the relay contacts, then on to the load. Control the relay(s) with switches from the driver's seat.

agree that the 240 series connectors would be fine for signal connections. Relays for: HEI, electric fuel pump, high and low beams, electric radiator fan, high mount stop light are all on under hood relays,, a signal connection would not fit in with the ac/ heater blower wiring ,, the blower resistor on the D-150 mounts into the front cowl, accessable from the dash side of the firewall, the blower motor that is fed from the blower resistor is on the engine side of the fire wall, for that one I got a length of 10 gauge wire and ran a continious wire from the resistor to the motor,, insulated the wire where it goes through the fire wall with convoluted tubing and a hard nylon gromet

yep, or just get a firewall plug with more substantial connectors...

How many additional wires do you have to run thru the firwall?
I know when I rewired my 86 2 years ago there were quite a few open cavities on the OEM bulk head connector.
Could you possibly run them thru there?

, my oe 83 firewall connector has 10 open cavities,,

have you found a source for the oe connectors and tabs? That was one reason why I did not go that route, the other is that there is a mass of wires there already, since on my 83 there is a mix of oe and new circuits, for future trouble shooting I wanted to keep them separate.
