That is not a valid block casting number. Casting numbers are seven digits, sometimes with a dash and then an eighth digit. The casting number is helpful for narrowing in on what casting group/type of engine you have, but will not tell you what year the block was made. For that information, you need to report the engine ID number, which is stamped (not cast) on a pad/extension of the block's deck surface located directly below the frontmost or rearmost spark plug, and facing the sky when the block is upright. You may have to scrape/wash away the buildup of grease and dirt to read the number.

Nope, still not the engine ID number. What you found there is probably a partial VIN number identifying the vehicle the engine was originally installed in. The engine ID number will contain either a partial engine displacement identifier ("17" or "22") or, starting in 1966, a complete one ("170", "198", or "225"). There will also be letters and additional numbers.

"9B147562" is for a 1969 Valiant, Barracuda, Dart, Charger built at Hamtramck, Michigan.

Or it could be for a 1979 Volare or Aspen built at Hamtramck.

The engine number should be stamped on a machined boss (ie., flat surface machined smooth) just below the #1 cylinder on the engine block. This number will undoubtedly be blocked by the alternator. I believe you found "9B147562" under the #6 cylinder, so the number you are looking for is at the other end of the enigne.

The first digit will be for the model year (either "E" for 1969 or "S" for 1979. "9" was also used for 1979). Following that will be "170" or "225".

There might be some letters between the E/S/9 and 170/225 for the engine plant. After the group, there will be a series of numbers and letters for the date of assembly, etc.
