A seperate (but related) issue is: how long would it take to actually GET them from Clifford? Based on what I've heard lately, Clifford isn't as reliable as they once were in terms of having what they advertise in stock and ready to ship.
After watching a new set of Clifford shorty headers climb on Ebay to almost to same price as getting them directly from Clifford, I decided to just get them from them.
Having heard bad things also, I even though maybe it would be better to pay the same off Ebay just to eliminate having to call Clifford. ,but I ordered them only after telling them how I plan to do business with them.
First "are they in stock right now?" "Are you sure" . He said yes again. "Tell me when I will get them in my hands and let me tell you this. If they don't arive when you say, I will call and cancel the order and dispute the charges"

He told me about how those where the old days when his father ran things.
Well we will see. I feel like things will go well for me.

One thing that Clifford (larry) said that surprized me is that they sell 1800 of "these" headers each year.
That can't be right can it?

Not a chance. I'd say 18 would be more like it, maybe 50, but I doubt it.

I thought it was the other way round, when Jack was alive things ran good and parts weren't a problem"in the old days"? Could the 1800 figure that larry mentioned include all headers like fomo an gm plus /6? Either that or I best start paying attention to every Mop I see and hear, might be a lot of "little old ladies from pasadena"

I received my shippment and there where no problems. I did have to call back and get the tracking number that was suppost to be emailed. During that conversion Larry told me that Doug had spoke to him also. Not sure if Doug had anything to do with the headers coming on time, but all has gone well. So if thanks are in order, thanks.
Headers are at the coaters.

We got headers for our Duster last year. Duel outlet.
Delivery was quick enough and their customer service usually answer the phone.
The front header section had to come out because it was flat hard against the steering box. I had to heat the collector and dent it to fit.
This, of course, was after I had already painted the headers.
I think the header design was flawed because the collector was poorly located.
The outlet being high and toward the rear, just over the rear collector made it really hard for the muffler shop to route the exhaust pipes. There just wasn't much room to have 2 exhaust pipes (we used 2 1/4") route down next to the steering column. The rod from the carb to the auto trans rubs against the exhaust pipe.
I think the front header section and collector should have been routed down.
Then, the front exhaust pipe section could have run under and parallel to the engine.
I would have had the local header builder (Stan's in Auburn, WA) build from scratch, but he wanted $1500 for a whole system from the head back. Can you believe that?
he wanted only $300 for my Ranger.

I agree here... I wish they could have at least routed the rear collector down because its like 12in from the firewall and to dang close to the bell housing and clutch linkages. This will be a fun one for the exaust guys.

Several months ago, I called Larry about a manifold adapter gasket.
It wasn't listed as an item on the web site.
He sent me 4 in the mail, NO CHARGE!!!

I have a set of the Clifford shorty headers.
I also won one of the Clifford copy headers that have been on Ebay over the last year.
I thought I was saving some money until I compared the two side by side.
The Cliffords look better, for one thing, the welds are smoother.
I recomend to stay away from the Ebay shorties unless you can get them for under $150.

On the downside, I got the Clifford Hyper Pak intake a few years back.
Quality at best was only fair, I expected something a lot better.
Larry took in back on credit, that's how I ended up with the shorty headers. I was satisfied.

So, for the most part, I've been mildly satisfied with Clifford.
From my experience, on a satisfaction scale of 10, I give them a 9.

The biggest improvement Clifford could make to keep me happy as a slant sixer is offer some of their discontinued headers (long tubes) and discountinued intakes (especially the NON-water heated with the EFI/NOS bosses).

I had to order some parts from Clifford. I made sure to confirm that they had stock, asked about shipping time (said 5-6 days because I'm in Canada). I spoke with Larry also & he seemed very friendly & we had a good chat. I was then totally impressed that my parts showed up at my door 2 1/2 days later. I would definatly order from them again if I can't get the part locally. I was definatly leery about using them because alot of people here seem to have had trouble with Clifford but I can't complain at all & would actually suggest them at this point because there isn't alot of choices for us slanters. Just my 2cents.

Ted
