go overboard with any of that stuff and your car will rust out from condensation in a big hurry.

Hey Step,
The spray on coatings, properly applied shouldn't cause any problem would they? (Like Lizardskin..)

if you look on the inner surface of your quarter panels inside the trunk youll likely find factory-applied sound deadener material sprayed on.

this is an example of what i mean by going "too-far", an insider in the VW community found this vehicle in a scrapyard three years after this article was published on the web. it was perforated by rust in some very unusual places and was beyond repair.

So the spray-on stuff isn't the problem? I didn't think it would be, but wanted to make sure.

keywords, properly applied. you obviously dont want to cover any drain holes or spray directly over rust or cracked seams.

yeah, baking on a roof in the hot summer is a cakewalk by comparison. i would not be too concerned about using ice-dam weatherproof membrane on vertical panels so long as you roll it on hard and leave it away from seams and edges. it only needs to cover the flats in the middle to deaden resonance. i was a member of iasca once upon a time, i still get mail from them from time to time...
