newer gage swap

with the gauge cluster you will also need to get the two electrical connector plugs that make the connection from the wiring harness. Get a couple of inches of wire with each plug. Some connections that were on the right are now on the left and some are new,, like the VSS...

also keep in mind that the fuel level sensor ohm resistance also changes.
The fuel level / fuel pick up assembly that mounts in the tank is not directly interchangeable. So that means the newer fuel tank is also needed or possibly you can adapt the 90 fuel level sendor to the early fuel pick up...lots of choices :!:

I went with the 1990 fuel tank,, increased capacity to 28 gallons and now has an in tank electric pump,, if I decide to go FI,, the fuel delivery is done.

"just don't try to lay no boogie woogie on the king of rock and roll'

The D-150 motored out of the garage under its own power,, first time since July of 2011,,,,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB6qWSmb ... e=youtu.be

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RKaiVfz ... e=youtu.be

the 1st video is after the D-150 ran at 2000 rpm for 30 minutes,, the electric fan cycled on... nothing caught fire :D I was happy
2nd video I brought the idle speed down to 900 rpm,, continued to run,, no unusual noises,,

life is good,,,

I'm slowly restoring a '77 Dodge D-100 and came across your build...GREAT WORK! I love your truck, even though I'm normally not a fan of the later trucks. Kudos to you on the restoration of this rig...I love everything about it! What muffler are you using...I'm guessing a Flowmaster? I love how the Slants sound like a V8 when idling. I'm keeping an eye on this project. Keep it up!

best tip I can give is get signed up with RockAuto and their manufacturers close outs,, if you have time to wait for deals to roll around. I got really nice prices on moog front end and raybestos brake parts..and a bunch of other stuff on this truck,,

the muffler is a flowmaster,, one of my sons had put that on along with duals over the rear axel,, not going back with the duals,,,from the muffler I will have shorty extensions that will exit just in front of the right rear tire.

On another note, I did not see your engine build recipe, is it something you would share? Your engine sounded nice and crisp in the video, and was just wondering.

that is real close to what I have in mind

for the engine build,,
much of the planning was discussed in this thread...

http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... highlight=

I should get the bed and hood back this week,, another week after that to get the remaining body stuff lined out and I will be able to drive it on a daily basis. I will post my impressions and summarize the actual engine build details.
