Dear Alanna,

That would be GREAT if you want to do trophies this year. We would all appreciate it.

Is Team Hargis coming to the M-D race?

ROB, thanks so much for the rundown. This is going to be a fun M-D race for sure!

All the best,

Lou

Slantzilla for not paying attention, you sure got the numbers right.
Had Rusty sign the form today and mailed it to Seymour.

That will put him in the lead for the Championship!

You planning on going to Mason-Dixon...?

It will be a great end to the season having a real slugfest at that last race.

Here are the results from the Clay City and Crossville Make Up races on 27-28 September.

Lukus Bruner is our new points leader with 150!

Two time National Champion Rodney Hargis is right behind him with 145. Rodney has now won rounds at 6 races, so gives up points for one race under the "Top 5" rule.

Team Green driver Rusty Heisten had a great weekend at Clay City, climbing to the number three spot and taking out the whole Bruner Clan in the process!

Four time National Champion Ron Hamby was not able to attend the race for family reasons, but plans to make it to Mason-Dixon for another year end push in hopes of winning his 5th National Championship.

Here's the updated Leader Board:

Here is how the Top 20 racers are performing based on their Performance Index (Rounds won versus Rounds run)

........................................Points...P.I.........Wins/Rounds.....Races
Lukus.Bruner.....................150......0.5500......11/20..............6/8
Rodney.Hargis...................155......0.5000......11/22..............7/9

Rusty.Heisten....................140......0.8462......11/13..............4/6
Ron.Hamby.......................140......0.6667.......8/12...............6/8
Glen.Ambacher.(R).............80......0.8000.......4/5...................2
Frank.Wright......................70.......0.6667......4/6...................2
Wendy.Pine.......................70........0.4545......5/11.................4

Rick.Covalt........................70.......0.3333......5/15..................4
Andrew.Howard..................70.......0.2000......2/10..................4
Gary.Bruner.......................70.......0.1667......3/18................6/8
Brian.Mimken.....................65.......0.2222......4/18..................5
Charlie.Schmid...................60.......0.5714......4/7..................2/4
Adam.Droschak.(R)............50.......0.5000......4/8....................2

Mark.Murray......................50........0.3333......2/6...................2
Greg.Ondayko...................50........0.2000......3/15..................4
Justin.Ledden.(R)...............45........1.0000......4/4....................1
Lou.Madsen.......................45........0.3750......3/8...................2/3

Seymour.Pederson.............45........0.2500......3/12..................3
Meril.Bruner......................45.........0.0667......1/15.................5/7
CJ.Stoakes.......................40..........0.5000......3/6...................2

The list is sorted by Points, then PI and finally by Wins

Rodney is below Lukus here because he gave up 10 of those 155 points due to the "Best 5" rule.

In the event of a tie in points the winner is decided by the better Performance Index. So Frank Wright is ranked higher than the other 4 people with 70 points based on his superior PI.

If anyone is interested in your personal PI, just let me know. I have everyone's PI calculated since the beginning back in 1999 when points recording started.

I will update the "Performance Index" and "Career Points" threads in this section once the season is final.

Performance Index: http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=51829
Career Points: http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44732

Any questions, comments or corrections, let me know.

There have been no official records posted yet this season.

There HAS been one official record set this year.

Ron Hamby re-set the C/Alcohol 1/8 mile record at Farmington, NC. 20 points were already added to his total for that record.

My apologies for that mistake.

I got the paperwork in the mail today. Rusty Heisten set the B/A 1/8 mile record on 9/26/14 6.881 and 97.423MPH. Rodney Hargis set the D/G 1/8 mile record on 9/27/14 8.582 and 78.196MPH. I will send Ryan the information to update the records list but I would consider them official at this time.

That's the note I got from Seymour.

That puts Rodney at 165 (145+20)

And Rusty at 160 (140+20)

I will update the complete roster Monday.

New Leader board:

Rodney Hargis 165
Rusty Heisten 160
Lukus Bruner 150
Ron Hamby 140

Should make for an interesting race at Mason-Dixon!

On another note: Michael Simmons set a couple Wiesbaden Wahoos Swim Team records today. :D

Both Rodney and Rusty have their 20 points for setting a record added to their totals.

As of this writing the only one of the Top 4 that looks to be confirmed to attend the final race at Mason-Dixon is Ron Hamby.

Rodney and Ron went head to head at this race last year for a very dramatic finale, so hopefully Rodney will attend again this year.

Not sure about Lukus. He hasn't attended Mason-Dixon yet.

Doubtful that Rusty will make that looong tow from Missouri for this one.

So, reading the tea leaves I see Rodney and Ron giving us another great final race to decide the Championship.

If Rodney doesn't make it, Ron can earn another 15 points just for showing up (If the second Crossville make-up race is held). That still puts him 10 points down, so he will have to win at least one round to tie...

If there is a tie, the Championship is decided by their Performance Index...

Worst case scenario, Ron goes to Mason-Dixon alone and the National Championship is decided on what he earns. No one (including Ron) wants that to happen!

If that is the case, Ron would have to win at least two or more rounds and wind up with more than 165 points to earn his 5th National Championship.

There will have to be some calculations made during the race to determine the exact points needed. Depending on the number of rounds available at those final 2 or 3 races, Ron's PI will fluctuate. Right now he has a better PI than Rodney (0.6667 to 0.5000).

Ron has only won rounds at three races so far, so he can win rounds at two more races without giving up any points. If he wins rounds at all three potential races, he would have to give up rounds at one race. His worst race is just a one rounder, so he would give up just 10 points.

I know, I know... Too much funky math that makes your head hurt and think I'm a raving lunatic.

Here's looking forward to another exciting year end race at Mason-Dixon!

The final Killer Bees race for 2014 was held this weekend at Redding, CA. Looking at the posts in that thread it appears the best would be a three round race with Rookie Glen Ambacher, Frank Wright and Wendy Pine in attendance.

Warning! More funky math coming... With three round races the best that either Frank or Wendy could do would be 140. Glen could tie for third at 150. With four round races and a clean sweep by any racer, they could be at 160 for Frank or Wendy and 170 and the lead for Glen! That would also bump Glen's PI from an already impressive 0.8000 to an amazing 0.9231 in 13 rounds of racing!

Last year three time National Champion Glen Terry made a clean sweep at this race along with a re-scheduled Woodburn race to earn 120 round win points in one weekend! So it can happen.

I will post those results as soon as the Killer Bees website is updated.

Here's the updated Leader Board:

Rodney..Hargis...................165
Rusty..Heisten.....................160
Lukus..Bruner.......................150

That would be true that I have never attended the Mason Dixson race before and probably will not this time either because I do not have the means of traveling a 1,000 miles round trip just to race. I do want to point out that it was said at the banquet a couple years ago though that giving the extra points for setting a record would never determine the championship but by looking at these points it looks like it played a major role in it this year! If I can find a way to afford Mason Dixon I will be there. BUT DONT SEE THAT HAPPENING

We'd love to have you Lukus, but I certainly understand that the 1000 mile trip is a hard one.

Yes it is Rick I just don't have the finances to do it. I hate more than anything to not come because I have a really good chance at the championship just by showing up there. But with 4 kids and a wife that still cannot go back to work just not a possible trip to make. Hope you all have a good race and the weather holds off.

So Dumb question: Over on one of the other topics West Coast stated that the West Coast Champion was Glen A. . But according to the colors Rusty is West Coast also and he has 160pts. I think Team Green Considers them selves East, as that is were all the races are that they attend. So is is Rusty the West Coast Champion or in the running for the East Coast (currently in 2nd)?
