Looks like us "bottle babies" might have a problem this year. Stopped by the supplier, yeasterday, to check the current pricing. Was informed, they haven't had any nitrous for several weeks, and don't know when they will get any.
See this article.

Supplies alocated to Medical, and food first, then manufacturing, and racing last.

Yep, was hopeing to put my 170 motor back together, and put it in my Valiant. To let Steve try to reset my "D nitrous" 1/4 mile record, and Ryans 1/8 mile record.
Looks like I might have to install my "turbo" 170 and go after Lou's "D unlimited" record(s). I understand he is stepping up his system, so we will just try to keep him "honest"

But I do have about 70 lbs of nitrous on hand, so we'll see.

Wow, I've actually been to that plastics plant a few years back. (Previous job was in rotating equipment engineering.)

Hahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa... Been sniffing that stuff, but not in my car. I would be happy for someone to show up at a race and down my D/U records. Looking for mid-high 12s this year on compressed air.

I don't think I can get my turbo setup into the 12's. Too old school, and inefficient. But very possibly mid to low 13's. Like I said, got to keep you honest, and make you work a little. :P

Well, 13.30s so far, so please keep me honest! I am still hoping that Kevin might bring his Duster to a Slant race sometime and bump the record down. I am guessing he is more like low 12s or maybe even 11s. I will keep working on mine of course...

Lou

Around here, our gas supplier carries Ni-Trace. It's nitrous, but has mercapatan added so that people don't huff it.

Didn't sound like they had a shortage.

I bought Mike's scale and filler kit today. I guess I will try the Whiff-N-Poof stuff one more time.

Can you adapt AC discharging equipmnt to pull the nitrous from the bottles of spray-on whipped cream?

Maybe. But do you realize what the price per pound of nitrous would be? I was using about 2 lbs of N2O per 1/4 mile run. I'm OK for a couple of weeks. I have about 70 lbs on hand, in 10 lb tanks, but my big "mother" tank is empty. I'll just have to find time to get the "turbo" motor ready, just in case.

Probably higher than just buying striaght nitrous. I don't use nitrous or spray whip cream. I just remember the kids in my junior high would all go to the 7-11 at lunch to buy cans of the whip cream and huff the nitrous used as the propellant. Not my thing. It probably would be quite expensive to scavenge the nitrous for use in a race car. Ok, skip that idea.
