I saw this parked outside my local Department of Assigned Counsel:

That's right- a rare Chrysler TC by Maserati. There is actually anothe rone of these runnign around tacoma. I have seen it. it is a cream/tan color. If i was into low-slung sports coupes I wouldn't mind getting one of these, except the removeable hardtop roof is known to be leak prone. Come to think of it, there is a dusty old Maserati dealership in Tacoma. They have had the same cars in the display room the entire 23 years I have lived here.

There has been one for sale in my Mopar club newsletter for years. Guy thinks it's worth $25K or some silly crap like that.

There used to be one driving around here for only $10K.

The Chrysler dealer in Oak Lawn had a cream colored one sitting in their showroom too. Not sure why.

There are two of them, the same color that Reed's picture is that daily drive in my town...

Love that Opera window... reminds me of some of the mid-late 70's land yachts that came with them and sometimes a landau soft top.... LOL

These turds combine the worst aspects of American- and Italian-made cars. They will eat you alive in parts costs -- even if you buy the model with the most in common with other FWD Mopars (the 3.0 Mitsu V6/A604 automatic...'course, then the transmission will make up the difference by eating you alive). And that's IF you can find the parts you need. Minor parking lot knock or road missile takes out a headlamp? $3500 if you can find one, which you usually can't. ABS brake system goes haywire? That'll require electronic money injection either to find the no-longer-existent parts or swap in a whole bunch of parts from a more common car. Body parts, interior parts, LOLROFL. Oh, and you say you'd prefer if the rain would stay outside the car? Well…yeah…about that…

The only reason these stupid, overpriced, shoddy pieces of junk existed was because of Lee Iaccoca's ego. A few people fell for it; most grownups rolled their eyes, laughed, and bought the better built, much less expensive LeBaron convertible instead.

So, Dan, how do you really feel? Laughing

And I checked- Tacoma has a dusty old ALFA-ROMEO dealership, not a dusty old Maserati dealership. All I see driving by is overpriced red Italian coupé.

Guess I was ahead of the trend in January 1982 with my not so cheep MRP $14,200 sticker a thousand or so lower than a plane-Jane Coupe Deville that year. Iaccoca also dreamed-up the rag-top version of LeBaron, had factory build one in 1981, drove it around Palm Beach garnering lot of attention. The rest was history until the Italians recently pulled the plug on Chrysler top down driving.

As far as luxury is concerned, these cars had some nice features. It was akin to the failed Cadillac Allante, another Italian-American mistake. As far as performance is concerned, my wife's GLH would eat either alive back in the day, for much cheaper- and I could find parts any where, any time. And it rarely needed any work, but when it did, parts were cheap.

Got my new club newsletter today. The guy is down to $15,500 on his, and it's even a convertible. Very Happy

The cream colored one that I see occasionally around Tacoma sold for something like $1800 on Craigslist a few years back.
