is there a physical difference between a car A904 and a D150 A904?

I know the tail shaft length changes for the manual A833 trannys between an A body and a truck, does that carry over to the auto's?

No, the 904 stays the same length. The only change I know of in trucks is the short tail 727 in a 4wd application. :D

If you have the numbers off the pan rail you can decode them. I am no expert in that though. :(

You have to watch that too... I got a 225 and A904 from a 1970 Dart for cheap, slant had a hole in one piston... the A904 was workable... looked up the numbers and it was something like 4130413 on the pan rail...

It crossed to a 1979+ lockup A904... I opened it up to adjust the bands and look over the valve body... oddly, no lock up assembly... everything on the inside was just like the Pre lockup units....
