1982 D-150, slant 6, 1 barrel....Last week at the traffic light, my truck quit....no spark, coasted back to the house and pulled into the driveway....figured the old lean burn finally quit so I decided to do the HEI, I had been gathering the stuff up for the last month. Motor cranks fine.
12.3 into #30 relay connected to alternator, 12.3 volts into the FD478 coil, 12.3 volts going into the B trigger connection- no volts on the G connector, ....no spark at the plugs....I grounded everything and tested the grounds....Dist. is good, swapped into a friends 77 Volare to make sure....any Ideas what I did wrong?
:(

Just curiosity, if the oil pressure switch was bad, will that keep it from starting? Have not checked it yet.

HEI unit is grounded? Did you snip off the little plastic zit on the back of the module so it sits flush against the heatsink? The HEI unit grounds though the back plate so the back plate must sit flush to whatever you are using as a heatsink.

Did you try swapping the leads to the distributor?

Depends on where you got the + feed for the HEI unit and coil from. The electric choke thermostat assist gets its power feed throgh the oil pressure switch circuit, so if that is where you tapped in to get + for the HEI module then you might not have power.

Zits filed off + I ran a separate ground wire to the motor. feed come from alternator. I will try swapping leads on W&G sides ....should the G or W have voltage? I would think so. Switched leads to dist.....no change

Take module to auto parts store and have them test it. I got a bad one once.
