Is there anywhere you can still get a new replacement front hub for an A-body with 4-wheel drums? There's nothing on RockAuto, and my Google-Fu hasn't turned up anything else yet.

I took apart my new (to me) '64 Valiant wagon to replace the front wheel bearings and brake parts, and one of the front hubs has a badly repaired wheel stud. Looks like it was previously welded in place after it spun in the hub (with gratuitous weld spatter). Then at some later point it was drilled out and replaced with new, but the fit in the hub hole is loose enough that the stud wobbles. And lord knows whether the hub is distorted due to the prior welding.

Alternatively, if someone has one of these hanging around in good condition I'll make it worth your while to throw it in a shipping box. Unfortunately, I appear to have thrown out all the parts from my Race Dart that were removed with the front disc upgrade.

If I can't find a replacement, my backup plan is to press the loose stud out, weld a thin bead around the ID of the wallowed-out hole, and drill it back out to size with a drill press after making up a template of some kind.

Spacefrank- I think the ones I bought were from Advanced Auto Parts (in Waco,Tx), I subsequently gave them away to a local Valiant owner when I switched to Disc's, but I do have the OLD originals if you want them (Fair Shape) -Dan

Dan, that would be great. I'm sure they're better than the one I'm looking at. How much will you take to ship em both to me in Houston? I checked all the regular parts stores, but apparently these are no longer available new.

This car will be getting some kind of front disc brake upgrade eventually, but not this year. Definitely nothing as expensive as that Summit kit!

For shipping weight.........

Do you need just the hub or hub/drum ?

Ha, I posted that as a joke but if you look at the contents of the kit, it is a good deal. All four corners with parking brakes, UCA, lower ball joints, master cylinder with booster and proportioning valve. With a little searching you may be able to find the same kit somewhere else for less.

Drums are still widely available new, so I just need the hubs themselves. I really just need one, but if these things aren't made anymore then I'll take a pair just in case.

Frank-
Sure you don't want to just come and get them?

When I originally rebuilt the front end/brakes, I used parts off a donor car and then just piled the originals over in the corner of my garage. (where they still sit!) It will take some disassembly to get it down to just the "Hubs", and my demon as always is time.

Oh, I didn't realize they'd be such a pain to get to. I might have to swing by at some point, but I wouldn't be able to get up to your neck of the woods before I'm planning to have this car back together.

I think for now I'll just repair the hub I've got (better than the last guy did, hopefully).

Those studs were originally swaged in. Someone probably drove out an old stud without cutting it off and goofed up the hole.
