Hi Fellow Slanters!

Well, recently I've started thinking about a blower kit, and I've always kind of wanted to do a long-term turbo build, however one of the limiting factors of both is that they need to go where my updated A/C compressor (using whatever the modern type of freon there is) goes... on the driver's side, where everything is.

I do intend to relocate the car battery, but still there is the issue of how in the world do I keep my A/C here in Texas if everything wants to go where the compressor goes?

Does anybody have experience with this matter? Would it make sense in having a bracket made to go along the outside of the blower or maybe using a specific forced-induction setup so I could have both?

If there is no way around this, then NA maybe the only way to go. I just want this thing to be fun more than anything, and baking in a dark-colored car in 100 degrees is not fun. I'm not looking for a vehicle to drive seasonally.

Thank you for any input!

I really wanted to do a blower on my 76 D100 slanted truck. It is black. After driving it this summer without AC I decided I want to add AC and use a turbo, instead.

Turbocharging is actually a bit simpler than supercharging on a slant six, precisely because you don't have to worry about a belt drive.

If you don't have power steering, you could possibly locate the A/C compressor, where the power steering pump would be. Of course you would have to fab a mounting bracket.

Put the alt on the P/S bracket and the compressor on the old alt bracket.

This has the added benefit of keeping all the A/C hoses on the passenger side and off the top of the engine.

Use one of those column-mounted electric boosters if you want P/S.

This is perfect, thank you!

I have PS, but find it useless. I'm used to driving a car with no PS... what I really would rather have are power brakes instead of the manual drums I have now.

... but yeah, going to remove the PS if that's the route I end-up going, or maybe just stick to my original plan of running NA, then do a turbo build, so would not have mess with either.

Choices!
