This thread is not for any particular vehicle, but rather using up parts I have. The eventual usage is subject to change at any time.
Vehicles on hand, as race cars:
65 Valiant 2dr sdn
66 Valiant signet 2dr hdtp
64 Valiant signet 2dr hdtp

Was building a 5.13 geared 7 1/4, but found a NOS 3.91R&P while cleaning the shop. Decided to go that way, instead, as a 5.13 is not really practical, for my useage. SG unit is all rebuilt with all new parts, including axle end gears spider gears, and clutches. Ring gear mounted and checked for runout. Couldn't install the pinion, as I misplaced the rear pinion bearing race (will have that today).

Put together a "A" body 8 3/4, rear, with 4.56 SG. Just waiting for the brake parts to arrive from Rock auto.

Forgot I had these all parts, for a 225. Pistons balanced, rods floated and balanced, block bored/honed, and decked, crank and cam, already installed in the block. Have the rings, bearings, gaskets on hand.
Did a trial fit of the new set of Jhans dome pistons. Depending on head CC's and gasket thickness, compression ratio could range from 11.0 to 1 to 13.5 to 1. Need to get one of my .100 heads, and set it on, to check piston to valve clearance, with the Racer Brown ST-21 cam.

To be continued:

Got an e-mail from Andre at Edge Converters. He found the parts to make me one more "hybrid" (small pilot/big spline) converter. Got to love his customer service. That will allow me to build another 170 early crank engine, for one of my cars.

Awesome!
Andre did seem like a good guy when I talked to him about Clay City.

Got all the parts needed to complete the 7 1/4 and 8 3/4 rears. Problem is that the weather is not cooperating. The rears are out side, under the carport, and it has been, and looks like will be to cold and rainy to work on them for about another week.

Need to figure out what to do about a cylinder head for the 225 motor. All the heads I have that have big valves, are milled too much. If I'm going to build a different head with big valves (which I would need to buy), I have to consider having the head professionally done (eech, goes against my grain, and reputation of being frugal).

Dug out a head I started working on, about 30 years, ago. I was setting it up using 413 exhaust valves for intakes, and Perkins diesel exhaust valves. So proceeded to snap off two manifold studs.

Got the "old" head soaking in a tub of evaporust.
Got a new "how to" book, today. "How to build altered wheelbase cars", by Steve Magnante. Interesting

Evaporust did a great job on the cyl head. Didn't have much rust on the outside, but cleaned the water jacket well.

The 4.56 SG 8 3/4 rear is complete including long wheel studs. Just need to make the new brake lines.

4.56SG 8 3/4 is ready to be installed in a vehicle. Probably put it in my 66 Valiant, with 28x10n slicks, and swap the 3.91 spool into my 65 Valiant with 23x10 slicks. Don't want to cut the fenders on the 65, and the tall tire/rim combo, won't fit. The 66 already has the fenders cut. I know the 3.91 short tire combo will work, as that is what I ran on my 66 Cuda.

Made some more room in the shop, and now have 6 engines on stands. Need to decide which ones to build/freshen up, and which one goes into which car.

Looks like I will be building/using a cable shifted 904 in the 65 Valiant. I found a pair of PB shifters, and a pair of 65 cable floor shifters. Have a cable shifter manual valve body on hand. Andre at Edge Racing Converters is building me a "hybrid" converter.

Awesome progress Charlie!!

Glad you're feeling better and it is warm enough in the shop for you to work.

The altered wheelbase book will help you build that V-Valiant!
(VW Valiant... )

Keep us updated on your "Schmid Racing Team"!! :D

Charrlie do you have a secret pill for all that drive and energy? I think you need to send it out to all of us in a general mailing so we can kick it in gear during the off season. A dose of the Florida weather wouldn't hurt as well. :)

Actually, I have been quite lazy the last couple of years. These are all incomplete projects, started many years ago. Just figured, at my age, I needed to try and finish some, before I am no longer able to do it. Clay City was/is my motivation.

Ordered a wide band O2 sensor. will install it on my truck, first, and try to improve the fuel economy. Then into one of the race cars.
Got my new Direct Connection 6-1 headers, Wed. Thanks to Dadtruck's delivery service :D
