Anyone know the color code order for these bows? They were in the trunk when I got the car, and of course, no indication of order. I can recite the colors for the most part but the bows are rusty and will need cleaning.

Also, does anyone have the tension wires for the rearmost bow or know where to buy them? All I can find are E-body versions, same?

Thanks all.

Brian

OK, here are pics of the bows.

The colored ends are (in order from right to left in picture):

1. light purple,
2. pink,
3. green,
4. gray, and
5. so-rusted-I-can't-tell

The other ends are all yellow except for the gray one is gray on both ends (and in the best shape).

Maybe I can tease the rust off #5 and get a hint of color, but it doesn't look promising.

Did some research, found the color code for a '69 Dart if anyone is interested, see: http://www.restorick.com/tech/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=45

This is consistent with my bows in that the one side is all yellow ends but one. For a '69 one side is all purple ends but one. I'll dig some more and see if I can find more information.

1969 Dodge Dart
FRONT

tan--------------------purple

med. green-------------purple

med. blue--------------purple

tan--------------------black

purple-----------------purple

Here is another really nice headliner install tutorial for the dart 2 door hardtop body style: http://www.hotrod.com/articles/mopp-021 ... odge-dart/

Still looking for 67 dart headliner color sequence...

I did find the wires that go onto the rearmost headliner bow, they were in a bag in a box that the previous owner left in the trunk. I wish he'd have left the headliner bows in place.

I suppose I can just play with them to see the best fit, but it would be nice to know the color order.

OK, I installed the headliner bows. 4 out of 5 fit with a snug to the roof fit, not super tight, just making contact at the center of the bow, enough friction to stay in place. One of them, next to last, was about 1/2" from the roof when installed and wouldn't stay in place. I found another big bow (not for A body) and cut it to fit snug like the others. Are all the bows supposed to "just fit" against the roof?

See pic: https://www.flickr.com/photos/151192512 ... ed-public/

What about the center rail that the interior light mounts to? It is lower than the top center of the bows. Won't the headliner protrude lower than the bows along that rail? maybe that's normal, anyone have input on bow fitment?

thanks all,

Brian

Putting in a bow type headliner without training and getting it to look good is difficult and time consuming in my opinion.

Also to do it correct on a 67 remove the front and rear windshields and gaskets.

Me personally i did the glass removal and install along with the headliner myself rear glass turned out great front glass was good. Headliner is presentable but i wish i would have spent the coin to have upholstery shop to do it.

At a minimum get a buddy to help with everything.

Maybe you have experience with it... i did not but i wanted to try it. I can tell you all the special tools to get for the glass install.. i felt the glass was much easier than the headliner. And get a buddy to help if you do attempt it on your own..

Pm me and we can chat if you like. Mine was on a 64 dart but the 67 will be similar with a slightly different design in the front windshield gasket.

Cheers,

Greg

Thanks Greg,

Yes, i'm going to pull the glass before I do the headliner, because both the front and rear glass leak. Whatever adhesive the previous owner used, it is running out like black tar. I'll use the proper adhesive and do it right. I was just fitting the bows now to make sure I have the order right.

I'll do the headliner, I think I can do it pretty well.
