Just bought a 64 Dart 270 yesterday. Never spent a night outside in its life and looks it. If I had a car in worse shape I wouldn't hesitate to buy new wheels (or even upgrade to LBP wheels and disc brakes).

My dilemma is should I pay way too much for terrible 13" tires (likely from coker) or save the original wheels in the garage and get something in 14" or 15". I'll try to get some pictures posted, it is near show quality.

I did do a search and found some posts on tire selection but with the age of them I'm not sure that even 14" tires are widely available anymore.

The car is roadworthy (was babied by previous owner) but the tires have tread but are on the old side. Car was driven only 600 miles in the last ten years.

Thanks
Brandon

14's are available.

Chevy Cavalier was using them relatively recently(up to 2005), and in 195/70 size.

Any GM clones probably have them too.

Should you be interested, I have a full set of factory steel 14" wheels for which I have no use. Send me a PM if you'd like to discuss...

I'm thinking about using 165-, or 175-SR15s on my 62 valiant.

With or without the VW hub caps?

14" tires are readily available from Discount tire or other vendors.

I just bought (4) 205/70-14 tires for $43 each. Recently saw them advertised as low as $38 each.

Anyway....have not had trouble yet with tires.

I would definitely go to 14" rims, and 15" would be better. 205/70-14s or 195/70s are good sizes. 13" is crazy except for slow cruising to shows these days...

No VW hubcaps, just steel rims and if anything "dog dish" caps

Why so narrow and such limited selection? For a 26" tall tire I'm running 215/65R15 on my '63 Lark. There is a better selection and the footprint on the road is much wider than a 175SR15. 205/65R15 is widely available (41 all-season choices at The Tire Rack) and at 25.5" is very close to the 175SR15 in diameter.
