Looks like the adapter to install a small block 727 trans to the slant six engine. However the crank adapter is missing.

No Charlie it is a garage door adapter and it has the key hole to prove it. :D :D

That does not look anything like the 727 to Slant 6 adapter plate I have. I would match it up to a Slant 6 block and an A-engine trans to see if it fits before I were to plan anything.

Lou could be right. I was going by the starter location, and the two bolt holes that could be for the bellhousing to engine brace. I couldn't trace the part number. I know a swap meet Mopar vender that had a adapter, that I thought was for the slant, but was for a early V-8, can't remember which. I will try to call him, and ask.

Starter bolt pattern looks much more Ford than Mopar to me, and even if it is a Chrysler item, that casting number is way too low to have anything to do with Slant-6s.

I have been told the early Hemi (1950's) used this adapter, to use a torqueflite, or powerflite. Still have not found this part number, but 1612344 is for 55-56 some others, 241-330-331-354 hemi, and some non 318 poly engines.

That sings, Charlie—starter pattern could be pre-Slant Chrysler.
