Little by little progress is being made. Went to the shop Saturday to work on the motor. Got the new damper and oil pump on. Dug out a set of rockers and got them on, then succumbed to the cold. High was 33* and 4 hours in the shop (no heat) was enough.

I have managed to gather up all the fittings and hose to make cooler lines for the trans. Trying not to cut corners, I want to do this once. Autozone loves me because I have already spent over $150 on just trans fluid and synthetic oil.

I did short circuit the guys at an Autozone I rarely go to Sunday. I walked up to the counter and asked the kid at the counter for 6 #25 Autolite plugs. (Motor from Mike has a late head on it) Kid asked "What car are these for?" Manager wasn't much better, but between the 2 they did finally come up with my plugs.

Mike had also put a new pair of Monocoque wheels on the rear just before he parked it. It has Centerlines on front. My Daytona also has Monocoques on it, so I traded the Centerlines to a buddy for a new battery for the car. I will use the fronts off the Daytona until I get new wheels for the Valiant next year.

Once I get the motor/trans in I may bring it home to have more time to attack the wiring.

I've always run Type F in any 904/727. I was going to try synthetic, trans guy said no.

I don't see a problem running type "F" in a racing trans. I did for years. As Dan states, the newer fluids are "overall" superior. But type "F" has a higher coeffient of friction, and theoreticly the clutches, and bands will grab better. The down side is that the bushings and thrust washers, wear faster.

The first trans Keith did for me was in the car for 3 years without even having the pan pulled. Keith was on me every year about servicing it, but I never did. I gave it to him for a freshen up and he found noting wrong in it. Type F always.

Only trans issue I've had was when I broke a converter.

I did run ATF+4 in my Dakota. I changed it religiously every 40K miles. It was still going at 200K when I sold it.

My '95 Ram got whatever I had on the shelf since it had a mysterious leak that appeared and disappeared. It was still going at 190K when I sold it.

I don't go to the dentist when my foot hurts. Why would I listen to a light bulb salesman when I am working on a race car?

Funny you should say this! I just had some communication with the owner of A & A Transmission. A good friend of mine asked what he would recommend running in his racing transmissions. Rick recommends Dexron III/Mercon or Type F.

Still gathering up fittings and such. Removing the last of the nitrous stuff from the car soon. Russel and Earl's love me long time now.

Off this weekend. Will at least see the car Saturday. Going to pick up another 360 4bbl motor and 727. Not sure if the 727 has Type F in it or not. Doubtful. 360 will go in my pile, 727 goes to Keith for credit on future work. :D

Had a little time yesterday so I hacked on the car a little. Got the wheels off and traded for a new battery. Started going through under the hood and deciding what goes and what stays. Found part of the wiring for the fan and water pump. Removed the rest of the nitrous plumbing and the electric vacuum pump from the car.

Slowly figuring out what can go as far as the wiring is concerned.

Little by little........
