My light on the column for the gear selector (A904, '67 dart) isn't working. I changed the bulb (tested the bulb first, it works) but still no go. Does that light have it's own fuse? All my other lights work in the whole car. Checked the wire run, looks OK, no pinches or cuts.

Could be, but the bulb case is brass, clips to steel socket, which is screwed into a metal piece on the steering column. I assume they grounded it somehow (it's pretty clean in there, no rust at all). That said, I'll check into it more today, put some independent power in the wire, see if that lights it up.

It is suppose to ground via the column. But mine wouldnt work either. So i ended up taking a small wire, attaching it to ons of the screws inside the column, then running it out to a separate ground and it worked.

I'm not sure if it's the same for the earlier cars, but on the 70+ cars a small wire maybe 6" long with rings on both ends was used from the factory. A metal bracket bolts to the column directly with short screws. This bracket uses two studs and one longer screw to the dashboard, but through plastic insulating clips. This jumper wire was used to get around that but often goes missing anytime the column is dropped.

Thanks Pierre, yes, I have that ground wire. I'll check to see if it's grounded inside as Gdizzle suggests; I'll get to the bottom of this....

thanks guys, now I know better what to look for.
