Hey guys, I have a 67 VC regal with the slant 6, column auto.... need some advice from the guys who have knowledge regarding an engine swap.

Option 1. Ground up rebuild of /6 with bigger cam, intake and exhaust etc.
Option 2. Swap /6 for a 318.

I guess the biggest question is, I don't want to have to change to a V8 K-frame. Is it possible with after market engine mounts to drop in the 318? And what other parts will I need?

Is it worth it? Budget is a factor, and not chasing HP, just a nicer cruiser.
Thanks for the help!

Opton 1: There is a lot to read here. Not just in the forum. If you hit the home button, then go to Articles, you will find lots of info.
There is also the engine build matrix in the Engine part of this forum under "Frequently asked questions (FAQ) Engine." Go through that for ideas.

Option 2: Needed are a v8 transmission, k-frame is a good idea, but there are conversions, some a bit questionable. Rear axle may or may not be up to the task. Radiator. Possibly torsion bars, likely brakes. Throttle cable is different, as is the kickdown.

The short of it, if you want a v8 car, it's likely going to save time and money to go buy one. If you have a connection with your particular car, then that's up to you.

Good luck with your decision, and have fun with the car!

CJ

I'm assuming your car is right hand drive. There might be some differences, on swapping to a V-8, that are different from left hand drive. I'm pretty sure the "K" member is different between LH and RH drive (steering box mount location).
Most of us on this site are leftys, so make sure your info is correct, for RH drive.

Thanks guys, looks like in hindsight building a nice slant would be the best option. Less complicated and I can live without the V8, especially considering how the VC handles and brakes.
Cheers
