Hi guys and gals,
Happy NEW YEAR TO ALL.
I am in need of help.
I currently had to change the distributor to my 1982 D150 225.

I turned in my non-functioning distributor as a core and forgot to remove the metal piece that's attached to it so that it can be bolted tight once adjusted.

I hope I'm describing it right.

No place seems to sell it.
Does anyone have an extra I can buy?
If not, what's my best option?

Thank you...

Was yours the one piece or the 2 piece? I should have some 1 piece ones down at my shop.

Not 100%. But I think 1 piece on distributor. And a claw to clamp it down that bolts to the engine block.

If you have a claw, then you have the 2 piece, which is much nicer to use than the 1 piece most of us have.

I would call it a distributor hold down ring, or a timing adjustment ring.

A quick search on eBag has netted zero results for just the ring. Plenty of claws everywhere.

Might try Wildcat Wrecking. I know they have a metric ton of slant distributors sitting around and I guarantee they have the part you need.

Talk to Vanessa.

Looks pretty straight forward. Could a usable one be made from a one piece one?

With some creativity I don't see why not. Though in the grand scheme of things, they aren't expensive to buy from Wildcat or other Board members. Unless someone were feeling froggy, it seems logical to simply buy the ring and claw.

The claw doesn't have to be slant-specific; I'm sure there are many varieties out there which would work.

When I ever get to a swap meet (rarely), I usually pour over all of the minuscule slant stuff and buy what is useful.
