Has anyone run a Holley HP 12-879 Boost referenced fuel regulator for the Torqstorm supercharger? If so, do you have to run a fuel return back to the fuel tank and can you plumb it in the fuel filler tube? Thanks, James Oh, it's on a 63 Valiant

Hi James,
I just JB welded a nipple to the atmospheric port on the mech pump to boost reference. But I was researching electric pumps with a boost referenced regulator and saw posts about just a loop to the supply line, seemed a little sketch, so I was going to get the fuel level sensor plate that has a built in return nipple. So far the mech is providing enough pressure under boost, although I only got up to 10lbs, and just once. Normally I am seeing 4-6 lbs when the secondary is open.

My application doesnt have Holley requlator and is a motorbike. Injected and turbocharged it is anyway.

The return line (of Malpassi boost referenced requlator) is connected to the incoming line of the requlator with a T-connector. At 1st there is a pump, next the requlator with the descibed "loop" from out to in and then a "dead end" to the injectors with NO return line either.

It has been working with blow thru carburetor and now with EFI.

I drilled and tapped a 3/8" NPT nipple on the fuel tank filler tube and ran my regulator return line to it. With 10-12 lbs. of boost it works great. After talking with a lot of old timers, they claim that the reason a lot of electric pumps fail that people put on is they don't run a return and the fuel in the pump gets hot and the pumps fail. with a large enough return line the fuel keeps moving therefore keeping the pump cool. Now, if I could just figure out a way to quiet down the loud blow off valve noise at cruise.

The return port is on the bottom of the Holley regulator. Takes a standard brass fitting, and I just drilled a hole in the top of the fuel tank near the rollover valve and ran the return into that.

Upgraded from the jellopy boost referenced mechanical pump because it sketched me out.

Works great with a Holley Blue or greater fuel pump.
