Did anyone ever make a steel bellhousing for the Slant Six? By 'steel' I mean a 'race' type bellhousing like Lakewood made for V8's.

Quicktime. They come with adapter rings for two case nose sizes. They're around $800.00 now, and show up on Ebay from time to time.
Here's one (of seven) at the moment.

Hmm, thanks! That's a lotta dough but I give them credit for making it.

I guess I could modify a stock aluminum bell....machine off the back and weld on a plate. Harder to work in aluminum but probably not too bad.

Thinking of what it would take to fit up a T56 Viper 6 speed....I bought one in 2000 that, 19 years later, I've still never used for anything.

I'm guessing the Slant would have a tough time pulling the .5 6th gear with the 2.76 rear end!

Well if all else fails wilcap can make you a nice adapter for that combo.

If you have a 6th gear of ~0.5ish why not use a 4.10-4.56 axle ratio with that trans?

Hmmm. Sounds like just the package for a Bonneville car.

The ratio isn't .5-ish, it's .5 exactly lol.

My first (modern) Challenger had the same ratios, and when you go into 6th it's unmistakably 'cruise only' time. My current Hellcat has the same gearbox but different ratios and 6th is .77 (I think) which is a lot more useful

Edit:
Hellcat ratios are 2.26, 1.58, 1.19, 1.00, 0.77 and 0.63:1. Meanwhile, the naturally aspirated (non-supercharged) 6.4-liter 392 HEMI V8 with its 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque has the following gear ratios: 2.97, 2.10, 1.46, 1.00, 0.74, 0.50:1

Wow. Well, that would certainly allow me to take advantage of the Slant's broad RPM range lol.

But even 5.13's would be 'transformed' into 2.62's with the OD....

I would have doubts about the tiny 5.13 pinion gear, being able to handle the torque of a boosted slant.

yeah charrlie, you are probably right.

I would say that if you have she ca$i$h to buy a viper transmission you could easily buy an 8.25 or 8.75 with the ratio needed tgo make the trans work.

I really don't want to ditch the 7-1/4"....I have a stack of 8-3/4's I could use, but that would kinda be like tossing the 6 for a V8. I'm attracted by the lower losses and lower weight of the 7-1/4".

The Japanese for whatever reason have some rear's with similar sized ring gears that are plenty tough.

As for the money to buy a T56....that's '19 years ago' money which is basically the same as 'free' now, lol.

If you gear it deep enough to use the 6th you probably won't use 1st unless you are towing a 30' trailer to the track! :D :D
