My 225 had this bracket as seen in the yellow circle...which appears to be meant to retain a hose or?

I don't want to reinstall it if it's not gonna do anything. I'm drawing a blank as to its purpose - anyone know?

Dipstick, possibly broken off?

Before someone mutilated it, it used to have a loop at the outboard end. The positive battery cable passed through it on its way to the starter.

Thanks guys, it is for the positive cable. I found a photo last night in a manual. It's not mutilated...it's 100% correct and unmolested. I wouldn't have bought the car had it been owned by a molester!
