It's already mighty impressive 8)

Wellllllll...........that's why I am questioning my choice. I already seem to have caught lightning in a jar. I may let it get away.

Rick, as someone who buried his opponent at the tree at 66 a couple weeks ago and broke out a ton, apparently it's not me.

Yes Seymour, it serves the same purpose as the 1000' clock on the quarter. I am sure the ET predictor programs use it too.

Made the trek down to Coles County Dragway today with my friend Theresa along for the ride. She had never been to a dragstrip before. It was a balmy 91 degrees with humidity of about pure rain.

Got there in time for the 1st time run. Car whizzed up pretty good in 2nd on the burnout, but lugged in high gear. Sure sign it was going to be a pig. Made the hit and sure enough, 8:67@81. .523 light.

Went up for the 2nd run and it was a little better. 8:58@81. .560 light.

First round I get paired up with a young lady in a 4th Gen Camaro dialed 8.92 to my 8.55. It was a really close race, and she tried patting the gas on me and let me out of the bag. I had treed her by .0001, (.5189 to her .5190) and the true MOV was .0058 for me. We both ran .03 off.

2nd round I drew a small block powered S-10. He was dialed 8.50 to my 8.55. Treed him by .008, (.5300 to his .5308) and I hossed the gas on him at the other end, letting him out of the bag. Fortunately we both ran under and I was .0101 closer to my dial. Man, it's tough down there.

3rd round I drew a 3rd Gen Firebird dialed 5.85 to my 8.50. I ended the suspense early when I went .450 red. Car did go 8.45 legging it out, so conditions were getting better.

We did stop at a Pizza Hut on the way home.

Thanks guys! Supposed to go to RT 66 this Saturday and be back on the 1/4 mile, if the rain stays away.

Went out last night and changed my battery hold downs. Last time I was at RT66 I got a warning that the hold downs that have been in the car for 20+ years were in fact, illegal. There were J hooks holding the battery in the box, and the box was bolted in with 1/2" bolts. Even though the J hooks were 3/8", they were deemed unsafe. Battery is now held into the box with 3/8" all thread.

I can't imagine what I will get dinged for if my rust bucket ever makes it to the track. I've got j hooks for starters..lol.

Tech is tough at RT 66. Mike had the car there a few times and nothing was ever said. I had it there earlier this year and nothing was said. I just got lucky that an old racer in Tech saw it walking by, he wasn't even teching the car.

By the same token, when I go to US 41 they don't even look at the car, just put the class on the window.

Same kinda deal for me between Ohio Valley and US 60 tracks. Ohio Valley is NHRA and does tech. US 60 just has a guy handing out numbers. Never even glanced at the car. People snickered when I wore a helmet...
