Gents, after a few years of reading this forum and finding pretty much all I needed here comes an issue that may need a new topic.

I'm working on swapping the original 198 engine in my 73 Dodge Dart Sport (A904 tranny) to 225. I got this 225 from Australia with casting number 2463430-15 and B2251018 stamped on the top. I learnt that the pilot on the 225 crankshaft (from 1966 as I read from its numbers) will be too small to fit with the torque converter on my post '68 A904 tranny.
So I checked the dimms of the pilot in the 225 crankshaft and it looks to me like it is already the late large pilot - the external diameter is 2.161417 inch as measured on the attached photo. The hole has a brass bushing in it and there is a smaller hole with another bushing inside. Can someone advise if I measured it in right spot? an I am good to go with the '73 A904 tranny? Or maybe there is a drawing showing exact internal and external dimmeter as well as the dept of the pilot and the smaller hole in it for post '68 engines?

You are measuring OD when you need to be measuring ID.

You appear to have a '68 up crank with the reducer bushing to go the other way(newer crank to older trans) and have the pilot bushing for a manual trans installed as well. You would only need to remove the larger bushing to install that crank over the newer auto converter hub.
Check inside dia. to converter snout to confirm.

Thanks! the internal diameter I.D of the larger hole is approx 1.86 inch when measured ignoring the bushing. When measured to the bushing the I.D. is 1.55 inch.

Yes, you have the 68-up crank with a bushing to adapt to the 67-down.

Thank you, that's good news! Out of curiosity what's the inner hole for with its small dark bushing? is it for manual tranny applications? if so I guess I just leave the small bushing there for my A904.
...and do I need to remove the larger brash bushing to fit the crank with post '68 A904? I guess yes.

Inner hole/bushing is for manual trans pilot (input shaft). No need to remove that, but you will need to remove the larger adapter bushing to get your AT torque converter snout in there.
