I had heard how good the fit and finish was on the tti stuff so I went ahead and bought a setup for my 64 dart.

Was concerned that it would be a bit loud, but the hooker aero chamber I bought for it is very quiet at idle and louder but not too bad on the highway. No raspy or tinny sounds at all, If you don't mind moderate noise above idle it is a great muffler.

Will say I am disappointed with the fit and finish though. The tailpipe got its hanger rewelded in a different spot so I wouldn't have to drill a new hole but I don't find that unreasonable. The headpipe however was within 1/8" of the steering and rubbed my tranny lines. Had to put it in a pipe bender to get reasonable clearance. Also rubbed at the tranny crossmember until it got bent some more.

If I were to do it again I would just buy a tailpipe and have an exhaust shop do the rest. Friend of mine bends exhaust and he normally just buys a tailpipe since that is the hardest piece to bend.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Those mods do not sound too tough. I wonder how much people have to do with their V8 stuff? I figure that the number of truly "bolt on" aftermarket parts I can buy for my Darts is exactly zero. There is always a little finagling to get things to fit just right.

TTI's system is based more on the 67 - 76 "wide" A-body chassis with some "tweaks" to make it fit the 63-66...
I am talking with a magazine writer who is working with TTI and we are hoping to get them to design a separate system (and P/N ) for the 63 - 66 A-body chassis.

The big "request" TTI has is to get someone to let them use their 63-66 A-Body car for a week or so... They need an actual car in order to see all those little inference places. TTI is located in Corona, CA (Riverside area) so speak-up if you are interested in helping by visiting them with an early A-Body.

That makes sense Doug. The interference is on the body side of the exhaust recess on the tranny xmember. I imagine the wider A bodies are wider there as well. I had wrongly assumed that they were made for early A's because that is what the guy in the Hotrod article put it on.

It also made me hang the exhaust hanger in the seatbelt area with a provided bracket where the early a v8 systems hang outboard more from the factory mount points.
