Yeah, kind of a spur of the moment thing. Makes no matter to me, I'm not chasing any records.

Here's how close I came to disaster in Iowa. I saw oil drips on the trailer after I loaded the car yesterday. Mike saw that it was coming from around the oil pump area. I checked the gauge fitting this morning and the pipe finished cracking off.

A low oil pressure switch is your friend!! :D :D Glad it wasn't a disaster for you and it is an easy fix.

That could have been much worse

I wonder how much vibration is a factor with a sender and elbow hanging off the end of a pipe like that?
Just trying to see the root cause so I can learn from it.

Rick, it never lost pressure. If it had broken off it would have been spraying oil in front of the right slick.

Six, amazingly, on the way to Iowa I was thinking it's about time to replace the fittings and copper line with a braided hose like I have on my 340 car.

I'm going to remember that picture the next time I'm tempted to build a plumbing tree

Got my fittings and braided hose. Grand total was $48 and that included 2 hoses since I'm not sure on length.

Will get them in tomorrow. Also need to check the rear end. Something seems not quite right. Maybe I should get my 4.86 together and get it in.

Valiant goes to Teig Chassis Saturday for front end upgrades. We're going to work on it not flopping the wheels all the way in when backing up, and a little better alignment.

Probably pull the Clifford headers out to get them coated too.

Spent some time with Patrick yesterday working on the steering. We are putting the rack and tie rods in that came with that POS AJE kit I had for the old Duster. Patrick is also redesigning the mounts. He didn't like the old ones even though the rack had stayed in place for over 20 years.

Merry Christmas to you too Greg!

The AJE was supposed to be a "bolt in" tube K-frame rack and pinion conversion. Unfortunately it was an ill designed piece of junk.

Okay, so I made my own semiublar K frame, maybe I can just buy the rack and adapt it to what I have.

Is the rack / Pinion junk or just the k frame or both?

Greg

R&P is fine, just the standard Pinto/Mustang II piece.

The issue was the geometry of the setup was horrible.
