What cars had a fan clutch that will fit the early cars, I have a 66 Valiant and a 64 dart. no I'm not going to use a flex fan.

None. The A bodys are to tight for a clutch fan. MP may make a slim clutch fan that will work, need to research it some.

Yeah, it is really tough to fit a fan clutch in an early A-body with \6, but it's been done (Doug D's '66 Dart wagon), unless I'm misremembering. I've often thought that if I were to get serious about modernising the engine-driven fan on an old A-body, I'd probably look at adapting a late-model import pickup truck item, e.g. Toyota. The type that has a plastic fan blade that's sculpted so as to house the clutch within the blade's own depth, which considerably reduces the amount of free space needed for the package—compared to the US method of mounting the clutch in front of the fan blade.

I imagine the difficulty would lie in (A) finding a fan blade designed for the correct direction of rotation (serpentine belts...!), and (b) adapting the fan hub to the \6 water pump pulley bolt pattern.

That Toyota reference got me thinking.....Didn't somebody here adapt a clutch fan from a BMW or Mercedes for their A body? An electric fan is another option.

There is a referance to a 280 SE Mercedes 1977 in an earlier post, The clutch and fan bolt in. There are lots of toyotas in the local pick&Pull and its 1/2 price this weekend. I guess I'll do junking today
