I just bought a super six setup w/ alumin intake.

Are there any improvments that I can make to the stock exhaust manifold, porting ect... I hate to spend money on a header when I have really good stock manifold right here.

Anyway I'm new to the board, this a great place for some great cars

Thank you for your time

Gasket matching the intake and exhaust couldn't hurt. I seem to remember seeing on here something about opening the outlet to 2.25 or so. Don't forget to upgrade the rest of the exhaust too.

If you try to hone or otherwise increase the exhaust manifold outlet to 2.25", you'll bust through it. You can maybe get to 2.125", but don't push it beyond that.

the step up in size to an 2.25" exhaust pipe doesn't hurt anything.

just get rid of casting flash, smooth out things and port match (you don't need to gasket match)

Any steps from smaller to larger are ok at the head / manifold interface tooo....

Hey Dan, I bored mine out to 2.25. It's still plenty thick, the only reason I stopped was because of the lack of sealing surface.(didn't want leaks all the time)
I thought they were all that thick, maybe mine is different?????

Some are thicker than others. By the time they were offering the aluminum intake, the exhaust manifold collector area had gone from thinnish (early production) to thick (mid-production) to really thin (late "on a diet" production).

And yeah, there's the sealing-surface issue to be worried about, too.

Thanks for your input, what about taking out the counter weight and flapper for better flow, or would make it worse?

Makes it worse, leave it in. You can choose to disable the spring so it's permanently in the "heat off" position, but I don't advise it.
