So I went out to buy fuel line as in the recipe..can't find r9, just r7.....and it's cheap...soni know it is wrong. Lol

Napa has hose that is like 4.50 a foot....but no r9 marking....they are marked as follows:

Could this be the right stuff or keep looking?

Continental Elite 30R9-5167 is a 7-foot length of 5/16" ID fuel injection hose, with 4 clamps, for $23 at Amazon.

I want to ask about the location of the fuel filter after this mod.

1966 dart sedan.

I have a small bit of hose coming straight up from fuel pump (the orig mech pump), then into the metal fuel filter then hose up and over the valve cover over to the carb.

The location of the fuel filter is so close and touches the #1 spark plug wire. It is also a few inches away from my HEI setup which is inches away from the main output of the Alternator.

Is there any issues with the wires being so close to the fuel filter? or fuel hose?
Or should I put the filter lower, like maybe 1 inch from fuel pump? that would put it lower than the alternator and plug wires

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Maybe lower it a bit next time you change the fuel filter.

I usually have the fuel filter up higher where I can zip tie it to the heater hoses (or the heater hose bracket on the valve cover), but if you're concerned with appearance this probably isn't the best way to go.

…there was this attachment you could buy. These instructions have a manufacturer address with a postal zone, and those were replaced by ZIP codes in 1963, so that plus the mid-'50s car profile gives some idea of the era. Looks like a close ancestor of the 3-nipple fuel filter used in the Ultimate Xtreme Stage-2 version of the fuel line mod: a chamber for vapour to be separated from liquid fuel, and provisions to send the vapour back to the fuel tank. My best guess is that inside the can, the inlet from the fuel pump is near the top and the output to the carb is at the bottom, and there's a small orifice—maybe 0.045" or so, like the one in the 3-nipple fuel filter—in the vapour outlet. The saddle clamp for the fuel filler pipe reminds me of the quick-'n'-dirty ones used to tap into a cold water line for an icemaker or whole-house humidifier, or the puncture-type side taps for cans of refrigerant. I learned of this item from a blurb about the 1973 AMC police cars; its mention made me go looking and I found the instruction sheet. Don't know that the kit used by AMC was the same as the older kit in the instruction sheet, but seems plasusible.

Just installed today, I think it looks clean.

You might consider replacing long sections with metal line for safety reasons.

Rubber fuel hose on either end to connect the metal line to the carb. Or better yet bend up some appropriate 5/16" fuel line with the appropriate flares and fittings from fuel pump to the carburetor.
