Dave Mueller and I are putting this out to you guys. There may be a little wiggle room on the specs, but we're not talking a ton here.

See this CAM for an idea of what we will have OCG build.

We're looking for folks that want to run an Oregon roller of these specs. This will be on a new billet.

Please explain the Modifications / alternate parts needed for lifters.


Dist / Pump Gear Hobbed in the middle or not?

Lou, his engine is blown, so not sure how much the specs can stray from that to give more variable specs for other apps....

This is Dave's favorite go fast cam. There may be some room for finish grinding to slightly different specs. Due to the processes, there won't be a large variation.
I'll let Dave know there is interest. :D

I'll be seeing him this weekend at Woodburn.

See if he can spread the lobe center a little wider(110°-112°) but keep the lift and @.020 & @.050 duration the same.

doesn't Mueller run a roller regrind cast camshaft now/one that has been nitrated/is it flaking ?

There aren't going to be many variations. When I talk to him, I'll find out just how far one can go with LSA and so forth. From our last conversation, it's not going to be a lot. This is the cam he has been successful with, so that's what is going being built. Billet doesn't leave a lot of room.

Yes, Dave was running nitrated iron rollers. He's now going for something a with a bit more longevity.

how many runs did he get out of that cam
the regrind/nitrate is pretty cheap form Oregon.

OK, sounds good, CJ. If Dave has had success with that roller grind, then it's gotta be pretty good! It is conceivable that a large roller cam will favor different characteristics than a smaller flat tappet.

I can tell you that Tilley's and Goodman's cams are/were longer int than exh, but Mark E's and Mike J's are a bit longer on the exh. So, many things can work for sure.

To use a cam like this what kind of valve train is going to need to be used I was going to send a couple cams off in the next month or so for a 198 long rod turbo motor and I may be willing to give on of these a shot but i would need to figure out what other parts id need.

The nitride iron cams varied as far as life span. He was recording around 50-75 full runs with most of them IIRC.
I think he had more on the last one. Not sure that it failed. He was flirting with Nitro fuel and busted a main cap.

well the springs are gonna be pretty strong, depending on rpm probably nothing under 450lbs open...

as far as the specs its basically my Erson solid with .060 more cam lift. why you guys keep going for more exh duration is beyond me! if you cant get it in why put emphasis on getting it out! swap those specs around and it would be a little happier.

was he using a Main Cap Support Girdle ?
