Basicly I think ok for 32 years old ,
I have this idea of fixing first with Rust arresting products
(slows down rust )
Then patch from behind with aluminum sheeting and epoxy to hold in place
then smooth in a clear epoxy as filler I would use a clear coat over the areas
Basically I want to fix but retain battle scars .dents dings surface rust
as it's the character of truck . Any tip's on my dream to fix but retain character , I'm open for advice ! Naturally this is original paint
I am using the truck also as a scrap money making work truck I cut some ply wood as simple back window protection that I put in and remove as needed
After a scrap run if truck gets dirty I treat to a wash and wax
engine bay under body . The truck gets all happy when clean
I know thats in my head But what ever the truck is a happy truck

Hi!

Wow. I had almost the identical truck way back. She'd make a great project. How is it mechanically? I think as long as you're having fun with it, do what makes you (and the truck) happy.

Good luck!

Shawn

Nice! I like to see vehicles doing what they were designed to do and not just collecting dust in a garage or on a trailer. Sounds like you have the right idea- fix what needs it but keep it useable.

Thanks for the support

The miles are low approaching 83,000 . It is a very fit truck
My first thought when I saw it was I need this truck to earn money
I'm in my 50's, so I remember these trucks so I kinda just took it for granted But when I opened the hood and saw a slant
I knew I had to have it , just for MPG alone & that has proven true.

Once I got it home what happened was unexpected The young kids in my town keep saying - - A Gen One , really nice . Many People in my daily travels smile at me & say nice ! Like I was getting fuel today and a woman walked over & said I really love this truck !!
The truck gets attention .
I've scrapped metal for 7 or 8 years & used a variety of trucks & Vans This D 100 is the best . I love this truck . I look forward to using it
It runs rock solid .
It's color is unobtrusive I can park in my yard and it blends well with the trees .It's a real country truck. As you see scrap is kinda ugly
so a truck that does not add to the negative view is important

My objective is to hold the line of it's current condition
I must keep it at least what it is . I'm having fun & that took me by surprise , Naturally I'd like to stumble on another slant auto
like an Aspen I guess I best careful what I think

Here is a picture of my last scrap truck 1998 Dodge 1500 with 318 The
MPG was not good , as a daily driver I could use $300 to $400 fuel per month it needed work but I used as was for many trips to the yard
I had no inspiration to fix or wash this truck just use till it was no more

. My D100 offers higher profits per mile of use . I use my D100 as my 30% daily driver . I recently picked up a nice used Toyota as my 70%
daily (sorry if it offends any one) I generally get American ,
But sometimes A mans gota do what a mans gota do.

So if you wonder is scrapping worth it here's the scoop
Generally each trip to the yard makes $100 $150 depending on metal types The D 100 was put into use April 20 & has earned around $570
it's weight carting & MPG as a package has no equal by far my best truck ever .
