WOW!!!!!

Some shift kits and a few magazine tech articles call for pitching the rear clutch check ball since in pre-80's FSM's it's only in the /6 valve body and not installed in V-8 transmissions... given that this TSB now adds is back in for the V-8 transmission...they must have had some problems with that "deletion"....

This has been "a lot" of information to digest and fills in some engineering upgrades/details....

Thank you for sharing, this is very informative....

It also makers for an interesting point on the Jeep 4 cylinder being a Pontiac 4 cylinder... this opens up some possibilities for the 'other brand' Inliner field... I was unaware of that "crossover"....

That's some of my most favoritest kind of advice, and I see it all the time in magazine articles: Hurr hurr derp, that's how they did it on the 6-cylinder cars, haw haw haw, so it's obvs poopy and you should do it the V8 way because that's obvs better, hurr hurr derp.

the listing that is titled

Dodge Truck with 446 IHC Engine

brought back memories,, we called that the MV8 ( M was for medium) to distinguish it from the 304-345-392 Small V8 and the + 500 CI Large V8's in production at IH at the Indianapolis Engine Plant. These were all gas motors.

Chrysler was to use the IHC MV8 in motorhome applications,, With the rising gas prices if the late 70's and early 80's sale's of the MV8's was dismal.

In 82 the MV8 was relaunched by IH as a diesel,, the 6.9L PowerStroke,, a very successful engine from a sales and performance perspective, Stayed in production as a direct derivative of the MV8 from 1982 to 1994 as the 6.9L, 7.3L and the 7.3L Turbo.
