I am looking for a carb recommendation for an Aussie speed long runner 2bbl intake.
Hey will be mounting it on a 1975 Dodge Dart swinger.

I’m looking to do as few mods as possible.

Thanks!

What other mods have been done to the engine? If you're bolting this to an otherwise stock engine you wont be keeping things to a minimum as you are wanting to.

Right now the engine is stock, but somebody gave me an ausssie spped long runner. Will I need to make other mods for this to work? I looked on their website, and they recommend a 350 CFM holley street runner.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I would not mind gaining a few horsepower until I can either rebuild or replace this engine with a more mod'd one.

Thanks

You should do yourself a favor and not use that intake right now. At a minimum you will need to install headers and some kind of intake manifold hest mechanism. On a stock motor you should stick to a Carter BBD, a Holley 2280, or a Motorcraft 2100. To really use that manifold you need to build a much more aggressive motor than stock.

Ah...ok...thanks for the advice.

Been a long *as in 40 years) time since I've actually worked on one of these...and back then, it was brand new.

Any easy mods to get a little extra kick, until I'm ready to tear into her?

Thanks

Alan

Lots. Do a good tuneup, make sure th timing chain isn't stretched, make sure the timing mark on the vibration damper hasnt slipped and is still reading accurately, make sure you have no vacuum leaks, make sue the vacuum advance on the distributor is hooked up and functioning properly, make sure the choke is adjusted and functioing properly, lash the valves corectly, make sure the carb is adjusted properly and the throttle shaft is not worn out, upgrade to HEI electronic ignition, install a 2 1/4 inch exhaust with a free flowing muffler, recurve the timing advance curve, install a cold air intake system, lots of things that can be done. Most aren't complicated or sexy, but they work.

Thanks reed.

I ended up being able to hold off on the long runner....that said, I am ready TO DO A "SUPER SIX" conversion.
I have a beautiful super six manifold, as well as a clean exhaust manifold.
to top things off, I was able to get a NOS Holley 2280.

What are the linkage recommendations?

Thanks

Alan

Build a MPFI setup with that long ram manifold.

Hey Alan
My son and I converted to Super Six with a Motorcraft 2150 a couple months ago.
We installed Summit Racing’s universal throttle cable kit. I also got their 727 kickdown kit. Hint: you'll need a bracket, the kickdown received had a bracket for the throttle and kickdown cables. I downloaded the instructions for the Lokar kit. They sppear to be identical.

Thanks for the assistance.

I am looking into that kit as well as the Bouchillon kit that was mentioned in a post.

I will be using a Holley 2280 that I was able to purchase NOS

The biggest issue with that intake is that it will not interface with the stock exh man. Reed is correct that you would need headers or a blocked heat riser section of your exh manifold. Other than that, it should work very well on a stock engine with a 2280, BBD, or Holley 350, or probably a motorcraft. I have no experience with the motorcraft. Those intakes are superb for low-mid range power and throttle response. I think it would work better than a stock 1bbl or 2bbl setup. However, for "plug-n-play", the supersix/BBD setup cannot be beat and the power and MPG should be better than any 1bbl.

Lou

After that you're ready for more cam, and exhaust. So many ways to spend a dollar.
