I know it sounds weird, but try placing blobs of mayonnaise on top of the sap. let it sit for half an hour or so, then wipe up with a damp rag. The oils and fats in the mayo break down resin, bird $#!+, and road tar amazingly well. You might have some greasy smears on your paint, but it goes away with a quick rub down.

Try 91% rubbing alcohol-works for me -I also use a single edge razor blade-just heep it almost flat when u use it so it wont harm the paint

I have used a mix of 1 part apple cider vinegar and 3 parts olive oil to remove sap from my car when parked under a birch tree - yep; it is so called 'french sallad dressing'! As banter's suggestion for mayo pointed out, the fat moistens and vinegar cleanes up almost any kind of goo. Besides it is a fantastic mix for polishing chrome! No I'm not kiddin'!
