Any idea on how to get tree sap off my car. ive tried everything and cant seem to get rid of it. Its really hurting the apperacnce of my car it looks like i have messed up paint but i dont! thanks in advance.

Most auto parts stores sell a tree sap remover product in the aisle that has the paint and chrome buffing products. Napa used to sell one call "Tree Sap Remover" that worked quite well. I had to use it several times since the rental house I was living in was surrounded by 100 foot pine trees.

Yeah i got come tree and sap remover but that didn't work. I was thinking maybe trying to scrape it with a brillo pad. i dont know if that will scratch the paint though...

Brillo pads WILL scratch your paint.

I once got a pre-painting cleaner from an auto paint store that did a good job of removing sap and everything else, but I don't recall the brand name.

Acetone and a micro fiber cloth will take it off but make sure you have a base coat/clear coat paint job and not single stage.

Would my original paint be base coat/clear coat?

In '71 the paint would have been single stage acrylic enamel.

there is a product Goo Off that is sold everywhere (autoparts stores) that works great for this, its in a little yellow tin. My dollar store even has is, if you got one around where you live.

Too many people who were born on third base actually believe they've hit a triple.

you won't believe this until you try it.

take a paper towel, fold into an 1/8 of its original size. now it's nice and thick. soak it in cold water, the colder the better. lay it over the sap and lightly press it onto the body (not too much as you want the water to stay in the towel). the towel with stay on the car by itself, even on a vertical surface. leave it there for a couple on minutes. then use the towel to wipe the sap off.

I know you guys are calling bs right now, I would too. I did it to my buddys Hemi Dart @ Carlisle (the orange 5.7 conversion that was parked right inside gate 3). I thought that I was going to have to call the paramedics for him when he saw it work.

Another vote for WD40; the solvents dissolve a lot of stuff. I just used it to take mango tree sap off my hands. Don't ask. Here's a strange one: lemon juice gets rid of chewing gum, turns it crumbly.
