I was looking for a used gtech to play with and ended up buying a new iPhone. I didn't really lust after one before I found out about the dyno app. for it, but after I couldn't help myself.

I saw a youtube video that compares chassis dyno results to some runs at englishtown dragstrip using the track timer, gtech meter, and iPhone application. I was surprised to see the iPhone coming out ahead of the gtech.

I'll try it out on my junk this week and post results.

It was the first app I bought for my iPhone, and yet, I've never used it. It needs a rock-solid mounting location, which I've never gotten around to creating...

But I tried it out some in my /6 swinger. I got a 15.3 1/8mi at 45mph. Based on a guessed weight 3700lbs it reported 50hp at the wheels.

I know she's got more than that in her- gotta be pushing at least 70hp!

Anybody else get#s?

The G-Tech is within a tenth of my track results...

Do you need the iPhone in a specific orientation to be accurate? Vertical, level, or whatever?

The G-Tech has to be zero'd and level to be accurate. It has to do with how the internal accelerometer is oriented.

The iPhone also has to be firmly mounted and aligned with the medial axis of the vehicle, but it can be tilted at any angle. There is a calibration procedure that you do with Dynolicious when you first set it up on the phone.
