I'm happy to buy a copy of Doug's book, but I was wondering if it specifically covered aluminum engine servicing or if I need to also buy an early shop manual?

Thanks!

Yes not like an engine build but it's in there with some pictures. The 63 service manuals have aluminum engines in them at least the Valiant one does.

A quote from the 63 service manual (" All bolt torque specifications for the aluminum engine are the same as for cast iron engines with the exception of the main bearing cap bolts which are to be tightened to 50 foot-pounds." )All torque specs are cold and standard caution about cross threading.

Unfortunately the Dodge manuals jump from 1960 to 1966 and the 1960 manual does not cover the aluminum 225. No applicable Plymouth manual either.
