I spoke to Pat at Wilkesboro Dragway briefly. I will call her back this evening so we can get the Ron Hamby Memorial Race on the calendar. Calling Tim Harrold now...

The Ron Hamby Memorial Race is locked in for the weekend of July 10th and 11th.

Pat will open up and let us have a Slant 6 race on Friday the 10th as in years past. She will add a Test & Tune and Gambler's Race that night.

They have test & tune nights on Thursdays, so if you have the time and inclination you could have three days of racing.

That's the same weekend as the Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle...

Dang. I think that is a bad idea to conflict with Carlisle. However, I will definitely go to Wilkesboro over Carlisle, and I think most people would choose that way... That July 10 weekend is really good for me.

I hate that in conflicts with Carlisle but that weekend works really well for me. I have to have 3 to 4 weeks between races so if it moved any closer to the knoxville race I would have to choose between the two. If it had to change I would need it to be the weekend before for me to be able to make both races

Yes I really don't want to miss Carlisle, but will come to Wilkesboro. I am guessing Ryan will do the same. I had planned to go out to South Mtn. dragway and race this year if they had it, but Wilkesboro will be special for sure!! :D

How's things looking out there? 2 tracks in my area have already announced they are shut down until further notice.

I was planning to go to Mason Dixon and run next weekend but they are closed until the governor lifts the restrictions on large gatherings.

My local track has suspended events until May 15. It appears that things will be getting worse for at least another month, even if we are all "distancing" properly. The fact that most places still do not have testing for COVID (and the long incubation period) means that we really have no idea how much it has spread yet.

Update: Motormile Dragway, my home track, has cancelled ALL events for 2020. Wow. That shoots a makeup race there. I guess we'll see where the other tracks go in a month or two...

Hope everyone is still wrenchin' on their Slanted machines and dreaming about racing!

Lou

Back of the Dragon and/or Tail of the Dragon in late June or July?? Bet we could have 4-5 Slanters come together. Talked with Brian M the other day and he is pulling his engine to fix a couple things, then Sixy Beast will be ready.

I'm still watching the Countryside tour near Pitt. Not cancelled yet...
