MoPars Invade had a great turnout of V8 race cars and show cars. A few sprinkles and some sunshine.
3 Slant 6 racers. Rusty wins it. Jeff the record holder second, and Mark who finishes his slant 6 career is third.
Mo-Kan is so great to work with. They are the best!

The Lancer has been sold less the engine and transmission. It will be receiving a Gen III Hemi.
Anybody who needs an improvement of 4 tenths or better? I have an air-shifted Jerico 5 speed for sale. AFT adjustable clutch, scatter shield and adapter plus all the extra gear sets go with it.

That would be nice behind Ryan's Valiant. .4 would put him in the 10.60 range!! :D :D

Thanks for organizing the event Mark, sorry I couldn't make it.

Lancer sold? This is the end of an era for sure.

And you finished your Slant Six Career? That just can't be true.

Sorry to see the Lancer go Mark, it has always been one of the best Slant cars on the grounds wherever you went.

I'd love to have the 5 speed setup, but I know that if I have to ask how much I can't afford it anyway. It would be great in Ryan's car.

Thanks Slantzilla and you are right about Ryan needing the Jerico. That is if he wants to stay quicker than "The Colt" or maybe even the "The Challenger"!

I guess it would have been okay if Jeff won but Rusty got the trophy that was originally won in 1964 by a good friend to the Heisten family. Pretty cool.

I don't think the Challenger is any threat.

So, did Jeff re-set the AA/Gas record down to a 10.50?

I don't think Jeff will turn in a time slip that quick.

Despite not winning, I had fun at the Mopars Invade. Carl is such a good guy.

I had a lot of issues that day. First, the radiator fan stopped working, causing a slight overheat. Turns out the temp sensor wire came off. Then it was a leaking water pump due to the bolts loosening up. That was a quick fix. Then it was a little oil leak out the front right of the pan. Some sealer and tightened bolts and that was fixed. Then a broken header tube, but I raced it anyway. Then another water leak from the lower radiator hose. Tightened the hose clamp and that fixed it for a while. This leak showed up again at the next race in Arkansas City KS. Appears I may have overtightened the original clamp and made it useless. Oh.....and the usual loose intake/exhaust bolts when using the stock gasket. RemFlex on there now.

I was dialed in at the 10.80 range starting in second gear. I was having trouble with traction all day. Since then, I had a good friend teach me a few things about tires and lightweight cars. I feel like I can get back to the mid 10s now.

Other updates:
Later this week the head will come off to get valve guide seals installed. The engine smokes pretty bad, but the leak down indicated the rings are in good shape. The new diff housing is almost done, so that will be a little more weight removed. I'm also going with the 3.90 gear because I was hitting the rev limiter at the last 200ft in the 1/4. The 4.10 gears worked great for the 1/8 mile and 1000ft, which is what SDRA mostly runs, but I feel the 3.90 will give me the last little bit in the 1/4. My 1/4 mile speeds were way down being on the limiter. 120 MPH with a 10.50 ET.

Next SDRA race is May 22nd at Tulsa on the 1/4 mile. The car should do really well. The 10.50 ET was with spinning the tires on the launch and hitting the rev limiter on the top end. Both those issues should be fixed now. How much do you think those two things will help? 10.40s? 10.30s?

if you have a compressor and the right kind of valve spring compressor, the head doesn't have to come off to replace valve guide seals. Done it a few times.

I wish that were the case. The new guides were never cut for seals. Plus I have to use the small diameter ones due to the dual springs. I might just run it as is for a while. Changing plugs is easy.
