Finally got some more done on the car. Traded a pair of Cenerline front wheels (about $50 ea) for body work. Had the rear fenders radiused for larger tires. Now have 28x9x15 slicks that I got from Seymore, a few years, ago. I had been running the wheels. Used wheels and new tires $100.

Finally got the car back to the track. Have not installed the fuel cell, yet. Still have that darn misfire, so did not use the nitrous. Considering the misfire, it actually ran pretty good. The taller tires seemed to help. Made three runs. The best was a 1.995 ( 60 ft), 9.169 at 72.78 mph(1/8), 14 665 at 86.82 mph (1/4). On motor, with the misfire.

Got the fuel cell installed, along with a 3/8 fuel line. Also mounted a fuel pressure gauge on the cowl, where I can see it during a run. We'll see what happens tomorrow nite, at the track.

Cost to install the new fuel system, about $150. Used cell, aluminum line, cannister filter, and some braided stainless line from the cell to the pump, misc fittings.

That's what I am trying for. I have 3 chances to find and fix the problem. Tonight, this Sat night, and next Wed. If the car runs OK next Wed night, I will leave right from Gainesville Raceway, and head north. Should get there sometime on Friday.

Found out the problem with the misfire. I backed up the timing about 10 degrees, and it is gone. Acording to my timing light, I now have, only about 15 degrees total timing. That shouldn't be. Need to check my timing light. If that is correct, and my timing is really that far back, I need to look at my rotor to cap phasing, and see if I was cross fireing with the timing bunped up.
Now I need to fix a fuel solenoid for the nitrous system. It stuck open, and really flooded the engine. Then get a new tire for the trailer, to replace the one that blew, on the way home from the track.

wjajr, I am about 85-90 miles away.

Fuel solenoid is repaired, Had a small piece of trash, like teflon tape on the seat. Don't know where it came from, as I only use non hardening pipe dope. While I had the nitrous plates off, I resurfaced all the plates, spacers, and adapters. Some had warpages, which was causing a vacuum leak. This thing has the Offie 4 bbl plate on the manifold, then the primary nitrous plate, then a 1 1/2 inch spacer, the secondary nitrous plate, and finally a 390 carb.
It is possible the damper has slipped, but it was a NOS piece, when installed.
I have some wireing upgrades to do, on Sat morning, then back to the track for more TnT.
PS: 14.7's on motor, last time out.

Still haveing problems. Going to take a break, for a week or so, then start again, at ground zero. Right now I'm just frustrated. Biggest problem is having to take it to the track, to see if I have made any progress. Between fuel to get to and from the track, entry, race fuel, the cost is between $80-$100 per day.

Sad to hear you can't make it Charlie. I have always enjoyed reading about your car, and was hoping to meet you in Hagerstown. I hope you can get everything figured out in the next few weeks, I'm anxious to see how it runs with both stages. Good Luck.
