Moving the trans rearward may require trans tunnel mods. I had to hammer mine a little to fit. Also look at the firewall area, it is tight there on the trucks.

I have no trans tunnel on the truck, just wide open space. I am thinking Lou's suggestion of slightly moving the engine forward and the trans backward is a good one. That would mean each moved less than an inch which would require fewer modifications. However, I know I am going to have to put the truck up on jackstands, pull the 727, and spend some time measuring and thinking about things before I install. I need to have a new driveshaft made, anyway.

I took advantage of my brother visiting today and swapped the bed. After having a stepside bed sitting in my yard for four or five years, I FINALLY installed it:

Still have to finish up little details like fixing a ripped out taillight mounting bolt, getting all the crossmembers installed. Getting the rear of the bed mounted to the frame, etc... but the heavy lifting is done.

I'm still here! I'm still above ground! Still chipping away slowly on this project truck!

Since the last update, I have swapped the carb to a 500 CFM Carter AFB run on a Super Six intake with an adapter and then to a Holley 2300 Economaster run on the same intake with an adapter.

The truck is still chugging along as well as an unrestored 47 year old daily driver hauling vehicle can be expected to run. That is to say, it is really on its last legs and neds to eb parked and worked on. Its keeps on going but EVERYTHING needs work. I am working up to finally stuffing it in the garage and blowing it apart for a full resoration. The fuel gauge quit working so it really isn't a reliable driver anymore.

Who knows what the future will hold. I may go to the dark side and update the drivetrain to a more modern four speed auto and *gasp* a V-8. Or not. We will see.

I will update as time, money, and advancement on the project permit.
