OK, with a trunk-mounted battery, that would be apparent to the tech guys... 4 weeks to go!

Got a steering column from a 64 Dodge. It is without the shifter parts. The 65 Belvedere column has the cable shift mechanism. The 64 column needs a little work, but is ten pounds lighter. I'll be using a floor shifter with the race transmission.

Well, good news-bad news.....
The good news is that my AMD trunk floor arrived today.
The bad news, it's the wrong part.
The one pictured on the AMD website looks exactly like my trunk floor.
The one that arrived, although similar in size, is definitely not the correct item.
I contacted customer service. I just home they make this right, and quickly.

Argh!

Not certain how the trunk floor is going to affect my timeline. I have to return this one and wait for the correct one.
I sent my headers off to be ceramic coated. They said I should have them back by May 11 at the latest.
I have sheet aluminum to make the trunk firewall. I should have that done by the weekend. I am doing my best to have this thing ready in 2 1/2 weeks.

Why not cut the stock trunk floor out and make that out of sheet alum too? You could add a box tubing brace across the center for strength.

No word on the new trunk floor, but I got the back seat firewall made. It doesn't need to be pretty as it will be covered with carpet.

With all the head and block milling, bigger cam, and oversize valves, I decided to check the valves for clearance. Turns out, I have nothing to worry about. I even have enough clearance for the bigger cam I have ordered. I also decided to cc the heads after the milling. Target was 45cc to go with the current block and I measured 44cc, so it's all good-right at 11:1 compression.
Just button up the engine and get ready to drop it in.
I just might make the Spring M-D race after all.

Well, I can't wait to see it running down ANY track. Or the driveway, for that matter....

Carpet is going to be a pain. It kind of looks like the driver pad is too far back. If I move the pad close to the area it should be, the edge between the front and rear carpet is under the front seats. Anyway, it will be nice to get the interior at least partly done. One other thing I just noticed. The interior of the car is original 'Fawn' (tanish) color and the outside was originally a sea green. On the inside, with the side panels off, I noticed the rear is the Fawn color but the doors are green color. The doors are the original, as is the interior. Just seems strange.

Yes, I know. And it adds about 20 pounds to the car, but it lets 'Yes Dear' think I am making improvements.
Worth the trade off.
