It looks like Summit Racing just lowered the price of the Edelbrock IAS shocks by $10 each, compared to what I paid a few weeks ago. I'm looking forward to trying them out.

Thanks guys........that is the same ride I get with the Gabriel shock. Bone jarring.......

However, the Gabriel seem to work perfect on the my two "C" bodies. A nice smooth ride with no harsh bone jarring........

Sometimes I wish the original oil shocks were still available for the lighter cars like my Dart. The dampening rate was just right for the stiffer springs.

I keep looking on eBay but I guess they are all sold by now.

Ugh. Well the handling on my cars went up 100% by replacing the old oil shocks. Ride was good with stock springs, but that's about it.

IAS are totally win-win. I had forgotten they had gone up over $75/shock, now back down. BTW, the "performer" and "classic" ones are the same except for the paint color.

Thanks Lou! Good to finally be working on the car again. Yes, the IAS Classics are the same, that's what I got, they look more chilled out than the red ones.

I see Summit wants $95.00 each now for the IAS Edelbrock's. Has anyone seen any better deals?

Guys,

Ordered a set Edelbrock shocks from Summit for the front. Just put them on and all I can say is Wow!!!!!! :D :D :D .

What a difference in ride with .893, 360 Duster Twister torsion bars. Now I need to save my pennies for the rear to go with the ESPO 6 leaf springs.

One unexpected benefit I found with the Edelbrock IAS shock is that badly grooved roads like I-90 here in Washington my Dart used to jump around allot which made it hard to control. It has been a real hand full on grooved roads by 18 wheelers.
Since I put the shocks on the front it has settled right down and only occasionally will hook. I never thought there would be a safety factor with these shocks, but the Gabriel's just didn't provide much control. They were much too soft.

By the way, the Dart is aligned per the 74 chassis manual to spec. I run 14" x 7" rims with P225 60R BF Goodrich T/A radials. We just have some badly worn roads......not as nice as Oregon or Montana.

I rebuilt my suspension on the ‘67 rag top Dart last fall with: Firm Feel .940â€￾ bars; #150 (can’t remember brand) anti sway bar, sub frame connectors; and six leaf ESPO springs all held in check with 4 blue Monroe Gasmatic cheap-o shocks. The car carves turns nice and flat, no diving during hard braking, and dose not pound or jar my flabby backside when under way.

This summer I installed a pair of tubular upper control arms to correct a bad castor problem. What a difference. Now for a Firm Feel PS box after the up coming move this fall to eliminate darting around in long sweeping bends from all the slop in the factory box.

That some pretty stiff bars for a convertible and a light car to begin with....most 67's are much lighter than my 74.
I hit the scales at 3600 lbs. with me and a full tank. :(

I have no idea what my car weighs. It has an 8 ¾ sure grip which must be a bit more robust than the smaller axels, an A904, floor sound deadening, sway bar, sub frame connectors, a pair of safe-T-caps up front, plus my more than 200 pounds of horse flesh. I should find some scales…

The stiffer bars make for a pleasant ride, much softer than my 300C, but stiffer than the LeBaron.

I noticed a real improvement in suspension after adding subframe connectors. I think the stiffer frame transferred more of the stresses to the suspension, as was intended by the creators. My fairly stiff suspension became much softer.
At least that's what she said :oops:
