title kind of says it, i was at a junkyard in anderson last weekend and they had some avenger stock wheels on a rack, listed as 5x4.5" (lbp) also looked at a book they had and it listed some jeep wheels(among others) as having 5x 4.5" bolt pattern. thanks to the google, it looks like most avenger etc stock wheels are 114.3 mm, which according to google conversion is 4.5", so do newer stock wheels fit on older lbp mopars? specifically, could i pick up a set of avenger wheels (decent alloys with a ram logo, and cheap probably) and put them on my dart? (67, using a disc brake conversion kit that lets you choose sbp or lbp, need bigger than the stock 13s on there now, going to lbp 8 3/4 rear in the hopefully nearish future) the thing i am fairly clueless about is backspacing/offset etc...
anyone tinker around with this at all? my stratus has the 5x100s otherwise i might experiment, actually it had aftermarkets that came on it when i got it that have two bolt patterns, seems that most stratus/avengers etc have either 5x100 or 5x114.3 i know i should double check before driving anywhere with the stratus wheels (if they fit) to make sure they are the 114.3, and of course want to hear what yall have to say, am i crazy or could this be made to work? biggest motivation is i need at least bigger front wheels for now, and cant afford to go all out and this could be an easy/cheap fix. i have some pretty bad shape steel slotted mags i could have my dad ship, but that will be alot and they wont look great, if i got a set of avenger wheels(or similar) i could have a better looking set for comparable price (by the time i factor in shipping, cleaning time, etc etc) and something a little different(probably going to go with centerline or torque thrust style mags in the long haul, but right now i want to put the discs on and drive it before it gets to snowing! might tinker with the stratus wheels when i get the new dist in the dart and back here. thoughts appreciated!

114.3mm/25.4mm/in= 4.5"

The problem is most older rear wheel drive Chrysler vehicles only want about 1/4" or 6mm positive offset. Avenger wheels are probably close to Intrepid wheels which are +40mm offset which moves the wheel too far inward. Front drive wheels almost always have too much positive offset. You can use a 17x8" +30mm offset wheel on the front of an A-body as long as it has the flat top ball joint, but this requires a 1" spacer in the back.

i knew someone had done that but i couldnt remember if you had done a drastic disc front and rear conversion. im not sure if i have a flat top ball joint, suspension is not my strong point... how would one go about determining that, or where can i get that style? love those wheels on your car, how big of tires do you have on there? thanks for the info

Some old ball joints have a dome on top. If there is no dome it pretty much has to be flat. May need to plug the grease fitting though. Front tires are 235/45R17 on 17x8" wheels and the rear are 255/40R17 on 17x9" wheels. Both wheels are about +28mm offset. There is a 1" spacer in the rear. These wheels and tires should fit any '67+ A-body with no sheet metal work at all. Earlier cars may need front fender trimming and may have trouble in the back. The rear tires will rub in inner wheel well going into or out of steep driveways at an angle. It doesn't (hasn't) hurt anything, but it does rub a shiny spot on the sheet metal.

I've got some 15x7 5 spoke Jeep mags. Test fit on a '69 BBP Cuda. I think the disc conversion kicks the wheels out some?

I also have some 16x8 Mustang Pony wheels that are going on when I do the disc conversion. I am going to be using a 65-66 B body rear.

The guy I got both these sets of wheel from has aluminum Charger or Magnum rims on his Cuda. IIRC they fit fine in the rear, needed some machine work to the rotor to allow the center hole on the wheel to fit.

A good place to shop for wheels is Craiglist. Lots of people pimping their cars and selling factory wheels.

I paid $70 for the Jeep wheels. That was what the scrap yard was paying. They are the charcoal grey centers.

I bought a piece of carpet and installed it and got the Mustang wheels with tires. :D

I test fitted a 15" steelie from a first generation ('93-'97) Concorde/Intrepid/Vision on my '73 Dart parts car. It fits, clears everything and "looks right" as far as offset goes. It's hubcentric, too.

My plan on my '68 Vart (Dart with Valiant front clip) sedan is to use the '73-'76 lbp front brakes and a '65-'70 B body rear end to get the rear track out to about the same width. Then the Concorde/Intrepid/Vision wheels should sit right in the wheel wells.

Keep in mind I haven't tried driving on this set up yet! I just know it fits and clears in the front.

Hey '75CustomDart- where'd you get the 17" steelies? They look great on your Dart.

Judging by the look of those wheels they originally came on a late model crown vic cop car. Look great too.

Should also have nearly perfect offset. You using any spacers?
