I have a '72 Scamp that was drum brake converted to disc using '85 Diplomat calipers running 215/45/17 on Fumagali Chrysler 300 rims. The '85 rubber hoses rub on the tires when turned to the max and the '74 (thought this was a good year for factory discs) lines are too short. Both years are 15-1/8" total length but '74s have a 3" steel tube included. Any suggestions on a better fit? I have read the posts on "home made" ones and do not want to try that. Looking for off the shelf and DOT ready. Braided would be OK. Thanks.

I have always used hoses specified for Aspens and Volares. They are approximately 17.25" in length and are plenty long enough for routing/steering issues. They have an odd bracket attached which I hacksaw off. I imagine others will chime in with other good options. Cheers - M

If memory serves, the hoses for 1980 Aspens and Volares are the longest.

I used 73-76 A-body hoses with M-body calipers on a '64 Dart for about 3.5 years of LeMons racing. We run 225-45-17 tires on those 17x7 late-90s Chrysler wheels, but we've also got them mounted on (I think) 1.5" spacers up front because of the high offset. The hoses didn't rub as far as I noticed, but they were strained at full steering lock due to the long metal extension on the caliper side. I am just now replacing them with the slightly longer F-body hoses. Like Michael said, you have to cut the extra bracket off.

The aspens and Volare use the same hose as the Diplomat. These have a rubber shield on them that is supposed to protect the hose from the tire. These shields were wearing down fast so I crimped a piece of 1/2" copper tubing over the larger rubber shield protector. This lasted for a while and then the larger rubber shield section broke free and moved along the main hose just past where the tire hits wearing the main rubber hose down to almost failure. I guess I do a lot of lock to lock turning. The A and V didn't have any bracket to cut off as mentioned above so maybe there is still another car to look at??? The hunt goes on.
