Getting the AZDart back road worthy after several years sitting. Installed Wilwood front disc brakes, 8 &3/4" rear axle from Dr. Diff, & dual master cylinder with proportioning valve on the rear line. Having difficulty getting the rear brakes to stop locking with no help from the front discs. While in the process of repeated stops and juggling the prop valve, I noticed brake fluid leaking from the front of the master cylinder. I had farmed the conversion job out, and hadn't checked the parts, ASSuming all was good. Removing the m/c cover I found enough rust on the gasket surface and the gasket itself to allow a "less than perfect" seal. A bit of work across the top flat surface of the m/c with a flat file gave a nice shiny surface. Cleaning the gasket as well resulted in NO LEAKS!

Moral of the story: don't ASSume! One might think I'd know that by now. Trust, but verify! Just another lesson along life's bumpy road...

You may also find that not all master cylinder lid gaskets are of the same quality as well...

FYI.
