Does anyone have a good source for the cover gasket (end plate) for a Mopar manual steering box?
Only one I can find is on Ebay. It is under $3 for the gasket but $20 to ship (WTF?).
If I have to, I will just make the dang thing.
It looks like this:

is there any reason you cant carefully use Grey RTV let it tack for ~15-45 Minutes before setting the cover on the box?

The original gasket came apart when I pulled the cover. 55 years and it is already torn.

Yes that's what I thought.

No gasket just a thoughtfully semi cured bead of grey rtb instead of the gasket.

I'd guess you can get them from Firm Feel or SteerAndGear or RedHead.

Most of the time you can contact and Ebay seller ask why shipping is so much...they'll come back and tell you they don't know how to set up the shipping part of Ebay* but will in fact only charge you a reasonable amount of shipping.

*They probably won't come out and say this but it's one of those unspoken things that makes you wonder just how much business they are costing themselves by using an overly inflated shipping cost.
