This is from a 62 valiant. I don’t know what happened to it. This is the passenger-side and the rod was bent also. An accident? The motor support needs to be rewelded, but other than these, I haven’t noticed any other damage. The drivers side rod area edges don’t look quite straight either, but it’s not too bad. Is this something that can be straightened out? It looks like a pretty strong piece of metal. I can hardly leave it's like this, it will interfere with the new rod. And it certainly doesn’t look very nice. Looks to me like damage from someone 'recovering' the vehicle from a ditch or field and not pulling smoothly. |

Thanks, about what I thought also. I'm not sure I can manage to straighten it out with the tools I have. I would prefer to, of course, but if not, what's the interchange for the slant six k-frames? Is it 60-66? (Reminder: this is a 62 Valiant) |

60-61 have the same K-frames, and 62-66 are the same. The 60-61 cars can accept a 62-66 K-frame too, assuming you use all 62-66 suspension parts. Lou |

Okay, thanks. I think finding one pre-62 would be pretty much impossible here in Finland anyway, but a 64 or 65 might be possible. We’ll see how it goes. I don't need it right away, but as you all know, it's good to plan ahead. I prefer keeping original parts if possible, but straightening out this one might be beyond me. |

I believe that a person or a shop with competent metal working skills could use heat or hydraulic force - mechanical leverage to reshape that k frame back to new. I know there are auto repair business and race car shops that straighten car / truck frames that have been tweeted in accidents. At least it sure wasn't rusted through. I tried heating it up and bending it with a 6 foot iron bar. It didn't move much. I got it straightened out a little, but it still doesn't look too great. It must have required a lot of force to dent it like that. I guess the easier solution would be to find another K bar, we'll see. |

try a repair shop that straightens / fixes bent automotive frames. get enough force and it will move |
